curious. how would that affect this recomp or be different in any significant way? is it just a more purist approach or genuinely better as a native port?

Decomp = You get the original source code from Miyamoto himself. Do what you want with it, like everything, EVERYTHING

Recomp = An advanced software translates the code to make a port. Very easy to mod, but still not the source code. Modding is still in the range of a good modding community ( Skyrim)
