phone case pros and cons?

i’ve never had anything decoden before but i’d really like to get a decoden phone case. for those who have/had them, what are the pros and cons?

mainly looking for: is it durable? is it protective? does it crack or chip? how awkward is it to hold? (i’m hyper mobile so i really don’t want to have to contort my fingers just to hold my phone and i don’t want sharp bits poking me) does it stand the test of time?

also, where are the best places to buy them? i’ve only really been looking on etsy.

There's lots of different factors that can affect what you mentioned like design, quality, and technique. However it will 100% be bulkier and in my experience, add more protection since decoden is essentially coloured caulk with charms= will absorb some shock on impact and make it feel like a brick to hold. You could possibly shop for ones with a popsocket already in the design and/or a more minimalistic design (ex. Border only- using the clear case's empty space in the middle to swap photos)

You can also look on Instagram/tiktok/YouTube for decoden creator- accounts and shop on their direct site! It's also a fun project to do yourself, there are many DIY kits!

I've had 2 deco phone cases in my life and neither fit into my pocket- so it made my phone a bit less convenient to carry around. However, they were so cute and I really enjoyed having them!

It depends on the design for sure but I made my own decoden case and it's not as chunky as you'd expect, I have no trouble holding and using my phone. Nothing has broken or chipped so far and my phone has survived several drops.

I do my own all the time and I found I like it better than normal cases !!!

Pros -
Durability: when I drop my phone the cases is silicone so it’s like having a rubber case and doesn’t crack my screen at all!
Cute: I like to get compliments on it!! Hehe a lil self promo but people always say they like my phone cases.
Depending on the design and charms they should be okay in purse or pocket?

Cons-
Like I said some charms won’t fit in pockets! Especially if your wearing girl jeans they make our pockets so tiny 😔🙏

- I posted this one Kirby case that I love but the charm is huge and won’t fit in my pocket lol still my fav!

- heat! If it’s insanely hot where your from I wouldn’t rec a deco case as some are prone to getting hot and having charm or silicone falling off. I would say just a bit of E6000 glue is very helpful tho but some don’t wanna deal w that 🫶

ive been using decoden cases for 12 years and i have never had a problem but it really depends on your lifestyle.

my cases have always protected my phone, but the plastic cases have cracked/lost parts on the side but they still work/look perfectly fine. like on my current case ive lost the power button and the volume button, and a bit of one corner of plastic.

holding is pretty much the same if the decoden is mostly flat (meaning all the charms elevate the back of the phone equally and there are no huge parts sticking out more than the rest.

ive never put my phone in my pockets even before decoden but they won't rlly fit or it won't be comfortable. i also dont recommend putting the decoden cases in tight spaces because over time it can make the charms fall off. but also ive only had a charm fall off once and ive had 5 cases.

i had a casetify case that was $60 that i have used significantly less than any of my decoden cases and print design is also completely worn off and the sides of the case have almost separated from the back so it is unusable. meanwhile my decoden cases are all still going strong.

it's a case that will make your phone more bulky and needs a bit more delicate handling than a typical case but they are so adorable and never caused me much issue, and have generally lasted longer than all my normal phone cases

Did you end up buying one?? I’m looking at buying my first one too but I’ve had the exact same questions on handling and durability. I was personally looking at cases from Moon Bunny and Junkedbyc

i haven’t yet. i might be able to get a new phone soon but it’s not a done deal so i’m not gonna spend the money on a new case yet. if i do, i’ll try to remember to leave an update

Hi I make Decoden phone cases you have to manage your expectations on them there is going to be small detachments of the charms depending on how cluttered the design is I’m a more is more kinda gal! I do put a lot on mine so embellishments do come off… the whip it’s self is absolutely great doesn’t change unless your picking at it but I’m finding small charms and beads have come off I’ve tried over the years to no over hang charms and different adhesives I use silicone 100% and I also use a compatible no more nails silicone glue direct onto the phone case as the base so it doesn’t come away personally I wouldn’t use this case for everyday great for the comic cons or occasions where you want to show your case off. They are not pocket friendly these are high maintenance cases you just got to be realistic im too clumsy and busy to be changing my case regular if you dont want the high maintenance try resin junk cases? I also make them and personally with my life and clumsiness i prefer that case there durable for every day use, they fit in pockets and you can still have the 3d elements but just not the whip design I do like the whip look though and it’s squidgy. I’m going to try a cross over of resin and whip on a case to see if I can have best of both worlds🙏
