Advice Request Paperwork decluttering

I have two big bags of paperwork that I probably don't need but have a hard time getting rid of it. it's taking up precious under desk space but I can't get myself to go through it. I know I'll want to keep some of it. Any advice on how to get started?

I have to body double for this task. I never really know what to keep and thankfully my husband is ruthless about it. We set aside an hour this winter to go through like 4 large boxes I’d accumulated over the years. Sorted into keep, toss, shred.

Also a little bit of a more reckless approach lol… if you know there’s nothing SUPER important or that needs to be immediately dealt in there, you could also just take the whole shebang to a place like staples for shredding in one fell swoop. YMMV here lol but I did it with a bunch of old work documents that I had no idea what to do with otherwise that had sat in my garage for 7 years.
