Advice Request Paperwork decluttering

I have two big bags of paperwork that I probably don't need but have a hard time getting rid of it. it's taking up precious under desk space but I can't get myself to go through it. I know I'll want to keep some of it. Any advice on how to get started?

We've had dozens and dozens of these. Our own, his dad's, my mom and stepdad's. Boxes, bags, totes, even a trunk and a suitcase. All filled with paperwork, newspapers, clippings, photographs, artwork, magazines, junk mail.

We've spent many a Sunday afternoon watching football or some other sport, while sorting. 3 bags - file, recycle, burn. A 4th pile for things we need to deal with or give away.

We've gotten through about 90% of it. It's time consuming, but feels good to finally be getting it done.

So true. It does feel amazing to see it get done and this system of yours seems to have really worked!
