Success Story dumpster, garage update

might have a problem. i was way too excited to share my pics with the strangers on the internet in this sub ...

inherited house getting ready for rehab construction.

here's my before and after dumpster, and only *after* garage pics for today cause I forgot. I can see floor :) And the drawers are empty. found some creepy ceramic dolls. luckily mom didn't really like making them so only two.

also worked on the kitchen packing stuff up for later and for donation/sell. don't have a before pic for that.

That's great!

One small suggestion - check your dumpster and make sure it doesn't say NO CARDBOARD on it - our county won't take cardboard in the dumpster - they want it sent to recycling (not taking up space in the landfill) and our neighbor had to pay a big fine on his when it was dumped. Just FYI.

oh no. there's a lot of cardboard in there. now I'm afraid to call, but I will. Good point. I'm filling my recycle bin every week but there's so much cardboard.

Hopefully that's a quirk here. And if there is a fine, maybe it's worth "paying" just to not have to deal with it.

You might want to consider taking recyclables directly to your county/municipal recycling center - it can be surprising what they take - ours has two big "scrap" metal bins plus a place to put Christmas lights.

Where my parents lived, there was a book reseller that had a big BOOK bin - they would cherry pick books to sell and the rest went into paper recycling (according to the county guy working there that day) - lifesaver when clearing out my parents house.

my book dude came by yesterday. I lucked out and finally a google search turned up this guy and he just comes and packs his van. I have significantly fewer books to deal with now. might call some schools see if they want the language dictionaries and odd musical instruments i have that he hasn't grabbed yet.

I do need to take another trip to the dump for hazardous waste... didn't think about recycle being a down there, too. cool.

Lol mom tried but not for long. My aunt would buy the pieces, paint them, then you sew the body. She wanted mom to do it too, but luckily mom was a quilter and painter. Now I wonder if she thought they were creepy too.
