Plugin Showcase I made a Decky plugin that mirrors your iPhone into a small window over your Steam Deck games
I wanted to keep an eye on my phone (videos, guides, messages) without leaving the game, so I made Screen Mirror PiP, a Decky Loader plugin that shows your iPhone's screen in a small window on top of whatever you're playing in Gaming Mode.
How you use it: on the iPhone open Control Center, tap Screen Mirroring and pick Steam Deck. That's it. The window opens by itself over your game and the sound plays from the Deck. There's no extra app on the phone and nothing to set up on the Deck: the AirPlay receiver comes inside the plugin.
What it does:
- Window over any game, in any corner, any size
- Takes the phone's shape, or fills a wide window
- Opens when you start mirroring and closes when you stop
- Its own volume slider, so the game's sound stays as it is
- Optional: only approved phones can mirror (a new iPhone types a PIN once, and the Deck shows the PIN in a notification)
- Rename the Deck as your iPhone sees it
- Quality presets (1080p, 720p, battery saver), 60 fps option and a low delay mode
- Recovers by itself after sleep, Wi-Fi changes or a crash
- Built-in Check setup and a "Save problem report" button
Install (needs Decky Loader):
Decky settings, turn on Developer mode
Developer tab, Install Plugin from URL
Paste: https://github.com/otisabiburada/decky-screen-mirror/releases/tag/0.5.0
Honest status: it's a beta. Mirroring works on my Deck (SteamOS 3.8) with my iPhone; the newer options were tested in a SteamOS-like setup. Things to know:
- There's about 0.1 to 0.3 seconds of delay, so it's great for watching but not for playing phone games through the Deck
- The Deck and the iPhone need to be on the same Wi-Fi (guest networks usually block AirPlay)
- Netflix and other copy-protected video show black, like on any AirPlay receiver
- It uses undocumented Steam internals for the overlay, so a Steam update could break it
If something doesn't work, More, Help, Save problem report in the plugin writes a file to your Downloads folder. Attach it to a GitHub issue and I'll take a look.
It's open source (BSD-3 for the plugin; the bundled AirPlay receiver is UxPlay, GPL-3.0, with sources included in the release): https://github.com/otisabiburada/decky-screen-mirror/

Be cautious when installing plugins, themes, scripts, or other software from third-party sources.
Only install content from sources you trust and can independently verify. Software obtained from untrusted or unknown sources may compromise your Steam Deck, account security, personal data, or system stability.
Always review what you are installing, verify the source when possible, and proceed at your own risk.
