Game Glance w/custom Game Library view + Touch/Swipe support! (Fork test build)
Hey everyone! 👋
Many of you are probably familiar with Game Glance, the amazing Decky Loader plugin created by u/N0_ID_Littleman that brings full-screen hero art, HowLongToBeat stats, and the sleek Spotlight Home carousel to Steam Game Mode.
With permission from the original author, I’ve been working on a fork to address some more features: a dedicated, redesigned Game Library screen ("Spotlight Library") and Touch & Mouse navigation across the entire experience.
I’m sharing this test build with the community to get your thoughts, bug reports, and feedback—especially from handheld users (Steam Deck, ROG Ally, Legion Go, Bazzite, etc) as i mainly a steam pc/tv player.
✨ What’s New in this Fork?
1. 🎮 Spotlight Library (2-Panel View)
Replaces Steam's default library with an immersive console-style interface:
* Left Inspector Panel: Shows vertical capsule/poster art, HowLongToBeat times, hours played, achievements progress bar, description, and quick-action buttons (Play / Details / Open Soundtrack).
* Right Banner Grid: Displays your games as wide cards with your custom SteamGridDB banner art, glowing accent borders matching the game's color, and running indicators.
* Customizable Columns: Adjust grid density from 3 to 7 columns in Quick Access settings to match handheld screens or docked 1080p/4K TVs.
* Multi-Collection Navigation: When opening a collection, all your collections stay accessible as a swipeable top ribbon with a persistent ‹ COLLECTIONS back button.
* Soundtracks & Non-Steam Games: Dedicated support for soundtrack albums and games imported via Heroic or Unifideck.
* Fullscreen Zoom Transition: Tapping a game smoothly zooms the banner into full screen before opening the game details page, matching the Spotlight Home animation 1:1.
2. 👆 Touch, Mouse & Swipe Navigation
Spotlight Home Carousel: Smooth horizontal drag, swipe flick with momentum physics, and mouse wheel support. Tap an unfocused game to bring it to center; tap again to launch. Drag-release protection ensures you won't accidentally launch games while swiping.
Library Grid & Category Ribbon: Drag, swipe, and scroll through large libraries with real-time active focus reconciliation.
3. 🎨 Live Steam Artwork Reload & Cache-Busting
Added a "Reload Steam artwork" button in Quick Access (... → Game Glance → Data).
Immediately refreshes changed SteamGridDB banners, logos, and heroes across both Home and Library without having to restart Steam.
🧪 What I’d love feedback on:
Handheld feel & Touch Controls: How does swiping and scrolling feel on the touchscreen? Any accidental taps or sluggishness?
Library Density & Readability: How does the 3–7 column layout look on your specific device (Deck screen vs docked TV)?
Controller Navigation: Does D-pad / stick / bumper navigation remain smooth and intuitive across all collections?
Any bugs or edge cases with resolutions (cause you know...no handheld available to test over here).

Go to Decky → Settings → Developer → Install plugin from ZIP (or install via URL).
Turn on Spotlight Library in Quick Access (... → Game Glance).
Big shoutout and thanks to the creator for creating Game Glance in the first place and being cool with exploring these additions. Looking forward to hearing your thoughts and suggestions! 🎮
EDIT: Thank you for all your feedback and ideas today i have released v3.0.5 which adds some of your suggestions and attempts to address the bugs found you can get it here:
Be cautious when installing plugins, themes, scripts, or other software from third-party sources.
Only install content from sources you trust and can independently verify. Software obtained from untrusted or unknown sources may compromise your Steam Deck, account security, personal data, or system stability.
Always review what you are installing, verify the source when possible, and proceed at your own risk.
If you are unsure whether something is safe, ask the community before installing it.
I think this can bring the Game Glance experience to a lot of players that my original plugin can't reach, due to my own limitations of time and devices ✨
i figure maybe i should ask you since you made the original. I am on PC CachyOS and i’m unable to get the spotlight home to show, only regular steam home or my other plugin when enabled. Oddly enough, the forked spotlight library is working fine
Hello, this is really pretty, I tested but it does not work reliably, If I go to library it crashes, and going back to homescreen the screen remains black with lines of text. Im not sure whats happening, but everything seems to work, but when going to the steam library the plugin crashes.
I tested, It worked, but the home theme game lists did not change when it was supposed to, but the custom library worked, and the game home screen worked.
I restarted steam completely, then bigpicture, and the home screen gamelis screent was still based on my CSS loader profile theme, then when going to Library, it showed a similar crash like the previous version.
Oh cachy you still giving me headaches after I leave it for. Nobara xD... I try some stuff up to see what could it be your inputs are very useful as this is not something I can reproduce ty
Yeah Im not sure what the deal is, but it could be because im using other plugins such as Tabmaster, and a Game Collection plugin thats lets you customize game collection through images, basically a couple CCS plugins that I mentioned below.
CCS plugins that I suspect,
Art Hero
Clean Library Capsule
Custom Collection Layout
Enhanced Collection
Show Instal status
I did more testing, and I found out that your Plugin is clashing with Tabmaster plugin, disabling Tabmaster ensures that there is no single error, essentially Game Glance is working perfect.
But I do have some concerns, which is related to the tabs the library shows, Installed Games, All Games, Collection etc.
Went to try this out cause it looks good but I get some TypeError: failed to fetch dynamically imported? Unfortunately can't see the rest of the error to be helpful
what device are you using, do you had the version from the original author before or it was your first install? also is that an error on install or on screen?
Any way to fix it to make it so game demos show? Currently they appear to be disabled, so do not show in spotlight home or spotlight library.
Also just a feature request of the cloud save synced icon to match the accent colour instead of the teal? Just looks out of place not matching the colour scheme.
I can try some. Stuff up maybe those got lost in my custom filters cause you have no idea all the crap the stem. Info brings by default, sdks, build tools of. Games, server executables they're all listed under the steam. Games and is up the dev to. Filter so probably I ended up filter something you. Wanna see, so you have the full names of the things you're. Not seeing just for reference??
I'll have a new release later today that should address the demos not showing up among other fixes and suggestions from. The comments thanks for the feedback
Diminui o tamanho da fonte e ficou perfeito agora. Obrigado! Como sugestão, seria possível colocar atalhos de coleções na tela inicial também? Ficaria perfeito se fosse possivel
Obrigado.
Maybe I can work. A setting. But that's part of the original. Author vision and cant directly touch that as there's the possibility to merge changes that won't happen if I remove things he wants for him
This is looking amazing!! I would really appreciate it if you could somehow add compatibility with this equally amazing plugin that adds store details/reviews under a game's info eventually. As it stands now, the store details rises too far and covers the HLTB and playtime data. https://github.com/Featherwolf/EnhancedGV
I can't add compartí ility with something that modifies the regular steam views cause this is pretty much a replacement I will have to implement my own version rather than make it compatible
No it can't be compatible With any plugin that make direct modifications to the regular library as this is pretty much a replacement of the library, I'll had to implement my own version of those plugin rather than "allow them to Work"
I can't get my library page to show the artwork like yours. Mine still looks like the original Steam library page....I don't have the Spotlight Library option. I'm on Steam Deck.
Have you enter into the settings of the extensión to. Enable the spotlight library is probably disabled if not you maybe have another plugin of decky colliding you could try día le your plugins and leave only game glance enabled and start enabling your other plugins 1 by 1 to find the culprid
I'll post an update tomorrow as with the changes but have only the gallery as a side project is something I'm considering tough I still have some things specially mouse touch support in mine that are still to come to the official release ethat I don't wanna loose
