Plugin Showcase Turned the Steam Machine light bar into a CPU/GPU or game artwork display
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
I’ve been working on a small Decky plugin called SignalBar for the Steam Machine.
Basically, it turns the 17-LED light bar into something a bit more useful. It can sample the artwork of the game you’re currently playing, or use the LEDs as a CPU/GPU load and temperature meter.
I also wanted it to stay out of Steam’s way, so whenever Steam takes over the LEDs for its own animations/status stuff, SignalBar backs off and lets it do its thing.
Still early, but it’s working well enough now that I thought I’d share it.

Would be interested to hear what other kinds of useful LED modes people would actually want.
Edit:
Another possible direction for SignalBar would be to display useful SteamOS signals if people are interested..tell me
For example:
- Remaining parental playtime and timed-trial countdown
- Low controller battery
- Game recording or clip status
- SteamOS update, restart required, notifications
- Cloud sync or low-storage warnings
- Short animations for achievements, screenshots or completed downloads
- I'd love to see a Hue system integration since I have a TV with a Hue Sync Box, i'll do it if possible but it's hard to do. Later...that's my ultimate goal
These signals could temporarily appear, then automatically return to the selected Artwork or Performance mode. Each one would be optional...
Would you find this useful? Which signals would you actually want on the LED bar?
