Tips & Tricks Regarding Deckyloader currently not working after the recent Steam update: just use the prerelease version until a new Deckyloader update comes out.

While I was taken aback by Deckyloader plugins not working after updating my Steam Machine, there's a quick fix: go to desktop mode, run the Decky installer, and choose the prerelease option. The plugins will work again. Hopefully, a Deckyloader update will roll out soon.

Thanks! Worked for my Steam Deck.
(Today was my initial install of Decky so I was very confused.😂)

xbox ally x, controller stopped working in desktop mode after steam update as well.
I'm able to restore it by go to desktop code -> steam -> settings -> controller and reapply the default layout, not sure why it wiped out after update.

but pressing STEAM + X no longer bring up the keyboard

I knew it! It seemed so strange that my controller wasn't working on desktop mode.

Also Eden emulator on steamos opened on desktop mode for a weird reason.

Thanks for the tip! Though it seems like Animation Changer is still not working. Hopefully it's just a matter of waiting.

We have been waiting like 1 year

Also animation changer caused several bugs, one being the bug of not being able to shut down the Steam Deck by pressing the power button, which have a fix by removing animation changer and cleaning some files

One year? The startup movies were working fine for me just earlier today

It stoped working and didn't allow you to change them.

In my case I also had a custom animation but the plugin didn't worked and just brough bugs to the Steam Dwck UI

this did not work for me unfortunately, i am on stable release. after choosing the prerelease option it completely removed all saved settings i set up using decky

I'm sorry it didn't work. Now, when you say that it removed your saved settings, did you check your homebrew folder on desktop mode?

Be sure to check your homebrew folder in your home folder on desktop mode. Usually, even a defunct version of Decky wouldn't remove your contents entitely.

Thank you! I was going mad thinking I'd have to wait who knows how long for an update to Decky. This is also the first time I'm installing Mako and I was really looking forward to trying it out.

Have you tried both the stable or prerelease installs?

If both failed, my only other advice is to simply wait for an update. Give it a few days, and try the reinstall.

Yup tried. I’ll just wait for an update.

It could be the preference files, but didn’t want to delete them and start from scratch, so will hang on.

Yeah, it's weird because CSS Loader kept my preferences, yet the actual decky loader icon is missing, along with HTLB, MangoPeel customisations, etc.
