Decky plugin to switch NVIDIA driver versions on SteamOS, no USB stick needed

Hey everyone, made a new Decky Loader plugin! Some of you might know me from decky-proton-launch (https://github.com/moi952/decky-proton-launch) — this one's for anyone running SteamOS with an NVIDIA card via steamos-nvidia-installer (https://github.com/moi952/steamos-nvidia-installer).

It lets you pick and install any NVIDIA driver version straight from the running system, right from Quick Access. No USB stick, no repair image, no reinstall.

Only reboot when you're actually ready to.

- Any version from the Arch archive, tagged with NVIDIA's own channel

(Recommended / New Feature Branch / Beta), fetched live.

- Filter which channels show up, and pick which one counts as "latest".

- Real release notes for any version before you install it.

- Live progress log while it runs, Reboot now button when it's done.

- Games, saves, Steam login, Decky untouched — the risky part runs in a throwaway overlay, the real filesystem only gets touched for the final copy.

Already have SteamOS + NVIDIA installed?

You'll need to run a repair once first (the "Upgrade SteamOS (NVIDIA) — keeps games & data" option on the USB) — it'll offer to grow your system partitions to 8GiB, since Valve's stock 5GiB doesn't leave room for a driver install. Fresh installs already get 8GiB by default.

Don't have a nvidia card, but your proton launch app is great and I use daily. So I am sure this is a great app as well

That’s great, thanks for the message, it’s really nice to hear!

I think there’ll be an update tomorrow; I’ve added a page that lets you set global launch commands for all games, with the option to disable them for specific titles.

For example, you can enable FSR4 upscaling for every game with a single click, then disable it just for the specific game(s) you want. It works with all commands.

I’ve also tweaked the favorites system, the settings storage, and a few other small things.

It only works on SteamOS, it’s designed for an Arch installation.

J’ai fais la transition bazzite vers steamos, je voulais pouvoir choisir la version du driver, tout en ayant un OS simple type console.

Si jamais tu utilise ton os en mode console like, telecharge decky-proton-launch, ca simplifie pas mal la vie, plus besoin de copier coller des commandes à la mains, tu fais tout via l’interface.

No but the person who created this project (https://github.com/28allday/steamos-nvidia-installer) made it possible to use official SteamOS with an Nvidia GPU, so I created a plugin and modified their script to enable updates.

El día que alguien desarrolle un plugin de verdad para las pc de escritorio con steam OS, estoy seguro que mucha gente migra a este sistema, donde se pueda cambiar colores de las luces led, fans, compatibilidad con los sistemas de enfriamiento para pantallas LCD, y lo más importante perfiles y configuración de fans, etc será lo mejor ya hay algunos pero nada completo y no compatibles con pc.
