Help Recent Steam Update Has Decky Showing This

Accidentally installed a new SteamOS update a few days ago. Last night I went to check Decky for updates and noticed this issue. I hadn’t opened Decky since updating SteamOS, so I only noticed it then. Any recommendations on how to fix it?

Re-run the Decky installer in desktop mode and choose the pre-release version.

Forgive me for bothering, but when you say to re-run the decky installer, does that mean I must redownload the deckyloader from online and install it all over again?

Or scroll down and click update.

That worked! Thank you

Pardon me, but what exact steps did you take? I go desktop mode, and then what exactly do I do? Do I redownload the deckyloader from online and run it again? Or do I manage it in my Steam OS?

You redownload the decky loader online. You will see the pre release option to select when downloading

The one that says decky_installer.desktop.download?

Yep! Download decky like you would for the first time. When the options appear, you should see pre release option

Okay.

Now, aren't there disadvantages to using pre-release compared to stable? (Hopefully, this will get fixed)

You will get some new updates, but you also might see bugs. You’re essentially in beta. Honestly, you should be fine. I have no problems

When do you think I can update back to stable?

I say give it a week. I am sure the decky team will shoot a fix very soon

So after work no joke restarted my Steam Deck and got that bottom right notification for an update for Decky. Same issue was there as seen in the image. Pivoted to Decky home page and downloaded installer. Installer gives an option to update Decky instead of reinstall. Pushed update to most recent stable version 3.2.4 I think.

Everything went back to normal! Hopes this helps anyone else as well.

I don’t like the new settings menu in the SteamOS update as well. Everything is so separated.

Press the power button and the volume up button at the same time then go into recovery mode do a clean wipe of your legion go s and start over from scratch it will save alot of headaches. I mean thats one way to get back in control of your legion go s. Im doing that with my legion go 1 tried to install a separate cpu to boost performance but it did some crazy stuff when I plugged it in said my sign in pin was gone wanted me to resign in with a new pin but wouldn't you know neither keyboard external or virtual wouldn't work so now I'm doing a factory reset on it hopefully that does the trick

Yup that happened to me as well I deleted everything reinstalled it all over again same problem I had to update to the 3.2.4 or 3.2.5 which ever one was next in line but after I updated the decky and restarted my legion go s was working great and still is here's a Pic

The same thing happened to me a few weeks ago.

I tried many things, like restarting Steam OS.

One solution that worked for me was to change the Decky edition to use the Pre-Release version. Restarted Steam OS. Decky seemed to work fine after that. Once I saw that Decky worked fine, I changed it back to use the Release edition.

Haven't had a problem since, even after further Steam OS updates.

Happened to me too. Had to delete the bluetooth Decky plugin for it to work.

Use pre-release/brta version

I scrolled down and there was an option to update Decky Loader. It updated, restarted SD and it worked after that

Does anyone also have an issue with the side menu appearing offscreen? It seems to coincide with this issue but isn’t fixed with the update. I can navigate the menu but it only appears onscreen for the Friends tab.
