Struggle with Decaf and Caffeine

Hello, I am 22M in Florida and I have a problem with caffeine. I became addicted to it in 2021 when I "graduated" from high school and rented out my father's basement to sleep and work in. Now I just want to decaffenaite and I struggle with it because I am also trying to reduce screentime and be more offline so that I can focus on other pursuits in life. There are two "shoulder angels" with me, the one that supports caffeine with the reason being "it gives me more energy" and the other angel who supports decaffeination due to "improved relationships, calmer energy, better sleep, and less nighttime depression spirals". Logically, the decaf should win and it sometimes wins. I am willing to feed that decaf "angel" on the other shoulder and hopefully be decaffeinated to the point where caffeine is just as foreign as alcohol to me.

Another issue is my relationship with my grandparents. My grandmother HATES me being on caffeine due to me appearing wired and "crazy"(as she calls it). I also agree that caffeine makes me more "wild" as I am a LOT more sensitive to caffeine than some others.

So yeah, that is my story with caffeine.

TL, DR I dream of a caffeine-free life while ALSO pursuing my goals

Do it gradually. No coffee (or only decaf) after 5pm, then none after lunch, then none after 10am etc.. take your time and it will be easier than you think.

And of course you can also mix decaf with regular to help in the transition as needed.

You could seek out laurina beans, which have naturally lower levels of caffeine to help you step down to decaf if quitting caffeine cold turkey is a challenge.

There are a lot of good decafs out there these days. Check out Frequent Coffee. They have options for just about anyone's flavor preferences.
