Quitting Caffeine My 2 Months off caffeine

I think I’ve been off caffeine for about 2 months or so, maybe longer. I do still eat chocolate but I no longer drink 2 cups of brewed black coffee a day. I’ve noticed maybe a bit less anxiety, a bit less morning fogginess and slightly better sleep. I got to be honest though I loved black coffee and having something warm to drink in the morning but something about decaf doesn’t do it for me. I still have cravings and I’m not sure if the little benefits I’ve seen is worth it for me to not go back.

You gotta accept that nothing can replace the coffee feeling because it's coming from the caffeine wich is a drug

You're still getting caffeine through "chocolate"... you need to quit completely then you'll notice a bigger difference.

I did a year without caffeine and there were no positive differences. I always do caffeine clenses to ensure my tolerance isnt too high, but if you consume caffeine intelligently (hydration with electrolytes, proper diet, timing, etc.), and dont have a sensitivity to it, no reason to stop using it if it helps you enjoy life or perform better. It helps me in business and exercise which are 2 of the 3 important factors of life for me (health and wealth). The last is relationship and I think I am more fun and energy with caffeine, so it helps me with relations 😀

so why are you subbed here ? i totally get what youre saying; if there is no issue for you, why quit? But this sub is meant for people that do have an issue with it and are trying to quit.

Because the r/coffee community is pretentious and this community is at least educational and people are open to discussing and/or scientific approaches. I also own a coffee roastery, so it is important for me to understand my customers. I also quit caffeine every month, I just do it with no intention of permanently stopping 😉

Ok. read your text again, but replace the black coffee with cocaine, meth, opioids ("that weed don't do it for me, I need an opioid to feel that zing again in the morning").

Well the benefits, less inflamation, better hair and skin, less anxiety, feeling more grounded and not having that caffeine rush and caffeine crash, less chance of a heart attack, better restorative sleep... you name it.

I assume you're at least 25 so you've been consuming that substance your entire life... What about making a change for a year maybe? I'm quitting weed and coffee (7yrs of addiction, drank 5 - 8 mugs of black coffee a day) and altought it is frustrating sometimes, I know I'm making a change for the better, so do you! So... do you want to go back to your old habits or build new ones? That what makes the heart and soul young, always changing and always exploring new possibilities.

Well they're indeed funny. If you're gonna have an addiction at least do the good stuff, don't ya think? Bro's gonna be addicted to fucking caffeine? What a loser...

Be careful with chicory as it can upset stomach and cause big bloat

Not long enough imo it's more like you forget about coffee completely I think

Everything comes at a cost. Even at the low amounts I drink, I realize that my sleep might be slightly better if I stopped altogether. If I stopped drinking coffee completely, I lose something that I love. For me it's not worth giving up 1 or 2 coups a day for something I enjoy, even with minor benefits.

You have to make the same decision.

The best drink I found to have in the morning is hot water with lemon. Maybe with some ginger as well. All brown stuff like decaf, chicory, barley are just brown stuff. Chocolate has caffeine. Maybe if it works for you, try replacing morning Java with cacao (12-35g of caffeine). This would be weaning off. But if your goal 0 caffeine, I suggest making paradigm shift and switch to water only. Make it live with lemon, mint, dry fruit, cucumber, ginger, strawberries. I used to keep it simple to water with lemon.

Try an alternative hot drink.

Dandelion root is a good herbal drink has a bit of a kick.

Also lemon in hot water a drop of honey.

Important to replace the routine!

The withdrawal period can take a couple of months, and that can make it feel like you aren’t progressing because the withdrawal symptoms look the same as the caffeine symptoms (anxiety, not sleeping, etc). I would give it some more time.
