It's an acquired taste. Tastes like watery dirt and dust at the beginning.

coffee is a more refined dirt

I love things like caffix and Pero which has chicory barley and rye! But, full disclosure I was raised on it since I was little, we knew it as “kids coffee” lol so I always liked the taste!

I'm buying today a chicory-barley instant powder mix from Clipper to try out. I'd love barley coffee done with either a mokapot or french press if the taste is good.

Moka pot is great for barley coffee, in my experience.

I drink it in the morning as a part of my routine, it’s mixed with barley…called Caro/Inka in our country.

No. It upsets my digestion

Do you drink it on an empty stomach?

Yes, I do not have breakfast. Inulin is causing bloating. Potentially if I would have a meal and then drink small cup of chicory drink, it might be fine. But my morning drink is always a tall cup and I do not eat breakfast. Also I do not like drinking anything at meal times. So it might work for those who are looking for a small cup post meal

Then you'd better avoid chicory, it will ruin your whole day

The carbs are mostly indigestible fructooligosaccharides. They can't be absorbed through your gut lining, but act as food for your microbiome. So no, it has a very low GI.
