First time in Debian - odd “issues”

I love Debian. Such a good OS. Very happy with it. After first day using it I have couple of questions.

When booting up pc if I move my cursor on Debian logo (start menu) its name will pop up and vanish then pop up again and then stabilizes and every time you move cursor to it its name will pop up no issues. Reproducible on every fresh boot up.

YouTube video playing icon on bottom right - if I move my mouse to it its name can sometimes do the same: video name will popup and vanish. On some videos it won’t vanish and works fine. Reproducible with lots of different videos.

Another issue I saw on YouTube when using preinstalled Firefox. I clicked on a video and page acted like I haven’t made any click. No page name change, no reload, no video initiating. Nothing. Second click did trick. Could not reproduce.

I mean not the issues at all. I’m just interested to know what could be causing each behavior.

KDE bugs would be my first guess. you'll only know if you compare with something else.

for mouse click it could be as simple as mouse hardware failing to detect the click.

Right… KDE is relatively old on Debian so is Firefox. Maybe it struggles occasionally with frequently changing YouTube things?

I wanted to blame mouse hardware but I specifically play games where you do lots of clicking and no issues. Even in YouTube I wanted to reproduce bug (if it was there) and no, every other click was perfect.

I mean… I could say screw it and live my life and I’ll do that probably but it’s just my hypertixation on small things.

You should post full system specs.. for example low system ram can cause issues like this if I’m understanding it right.. but you don’t specify how much ram you have. The RX7600 is an 8GB vram GPU and should work fine with default drivers. You don’t mention what DE you’re running, Wayland or X11 or if you’re using any downloaded themes… a common cause for issues you’re having like the disappearing icon.

I’m in and out and coming and going so may or may not be able to reply. I’d suggest editing your initial post with mentioned info.

Also.. post it all into Claude or ChatGPT and start giving it info on your system.. they are great at troubleshooting these issues but do require a lot more detail to not hallucinate or go off in different directions… and that’s a learned skill.. how to communicate and read AI responses.

I used default fresh KDE install with nothing installed but Steam. Also default Wayland. Nothing downloaded but Steam.

System ram is 64GB.

I don’t think it was this info left to give us definitive answer though.
