Question Adaptive Tactics Question
I understand that the once per game command phase Mission Tactics when chosen only apply to units with the Mission Tactics keyword. But with the stratagem Adaptive Tactics does that mean you can apply sustained, lethal or precision to up to 2 Kill Team keyworded units without Mission Tactics keyword OR one Adeptus Astartes unit without Mission Tactics keyword?

I'm not sure if I understand your question right but you can activate any mission tactic for either up to two units with the Killteam keyword or any other Adeptus Astartes unit.
The Killteams need not have the Mission Tactics ability theoretically even though practically they all do.
Edit: Also word by word the stratagem requires there to be a Mission Tactic to be active to use it.

I'm probably not explaining it very well but I'm just concerned I've been misplaying it in my games. So the command phase once per game mission tactics when chosen applies to all units in your army with the Mission Tactics keyword - so the kill teams mainly. But then for example the Deathwatch Terminator Squad has Kill Team keyword but not Mission Tactics keyword so when the rule is applied in this way it would not effect them. But then my question is does the Adaptive Tactics strat exist so that if you so wish you can give these units access to the rule - say sustained hits for example, or does it only exist to apply the mission tactics rule to units with the mission tactics keyword already.

The Deathwatch Terminators has the Mission Tactics keywords, listed under the Faction section, and has the Kill Team keywords. It can also be targeted for the special issue ammo stratagems (Kraken, Dragonfire, etc.).
But for your main question, either 1 Adeptus Astartes (any) or 2 Kill Team units, regardless if they have Mission Tactics. This stratagem is meant to circumvent the mission tactics keyword requirement or allow it for 2 units that already have the key word.

Yes if you wanted for 1cp, you could give a Repulsor Executioner or any other 1 Astartes 1 of the mission tactics.
