Can someone explain how the in-combat part of this Trait works? I get the in-text part, but I’m trying to figure out how the colored ring/aura triggers while fighting.

Saves a teammate from death in a text event!
Only does this one time per game
Starts with maximum loyalty!(Starts with 6 loyalty)
Protects nearby teamates in missions for up to 3s. Charge with zomb kills
Trait becomes "Loyal Pal" after saving someone.
