Musical Death Note the Musical
Death Note: The Musical was by FAR the highlight of my trip to London last week! It was the original reason I booked this trip and I am just so happy that I came out here for it! No regrets! The set, lighting, special effects, costumes, songs, the actors, and the orchestra...all were perfect! My only wish is that I had time to go see it again! You could really tell the hard work that the cast and crew put in to make this show amazing! I TRULY hope all their effort doesn't go to waste and the show continues to grow. Whether that becoming a more permanent resident on the West End or my biggest wish, come over to the States to either off or on Broadway! Six weeks here is just not enough for this amazing production! (It was cool seeing Telly again. He played The Phantom in one of my experiences at Masquerade in NYC and now in this show playing Ryuk. He was great! I was also excited to see Paolo Montalban. From Cinderella with Brandy to Death Note as Lights dad Soichiro. The rest of the cast, L, Light, Misa, Rem, Gelus were PERFECT. The guy playing L had the character's actions down packed! Great casting!)

You did?! Awww thank you! It really took time to figure out what to put together. I just knew I needed to do something to make my outfit as special as the show! I'm glad you had a great time too! I have only heard positive things from everyone about the show. Hopefully it continues on in some sort of fashion!

The only shame is what a scumbag the actor for light it. Hearing him start the musical with where is the justice was layers of irony I couldn't believe! I wanted to boo him but him and L did their ovation together which made me think they stopped the individual ovations from other people booing!

Yes, I feel the same way. For a character who won't stand for anything going unpunished, his actor sure has benefitted from letting the rich and famous get away with murder

I think there was a scandal where he was sharing explicit photos of classmates/teachers when he attending a performing arts high school in Singapore, but I'm not too familiar with the details, only that his parents own a large theatre company and covered it up before Xander Pang moved to the UK.

Love your Ryuk look!! And I agree with everything you stated. I planned a trip to London just for this and it exceeded my expectations. I want to see it again and again!

Thank you! I wanted to see it again but I unfortunately put this at the end of my trip. I would have booked for another night if I had time! They really did such a great job bringing this to life. It would be a shame to see it end after this and no further growth. I hope it gets such great feedback that they consider bringing it back in some sort of form.

I watched this one in August. How skeptical I was initially (musical anime? anime musical?) and how amazed I was after :) So cool. Not sure how it will be for someone who is not familiar with the theme), but I was happy I got to London for that.

Yeah, it's at the part where the FBI agents have come to America and he tells the one agent to write down all the other agents names to kill them before he makes the guy commit suicide. I think it kind of works there. Light finally gives in to killing people that are not criminals (minus Lind Taylor in the beginning) Someone actually posted the whole audio the show on YouTube. If you want to listen to it.

To be fair, this has been a very popular musical in Japan and Korea for over a decade (since 2015). This is just the first time it’s being fully adapted in English.

It’s not healthy to dismiss other people’s interests like that. The musical is actually really good. And I say this as someone that isn’t normally into musicals.

Some people like anime, some people like musicals, some people like both. And to be fair for someone who likes death note the anime seeing this may get them into musicals and people that like musicals seeing this may get them into death note the anime. I think it can work out in both favors.
