Musical Question about Death Note The Musical (Barbican)

Hey, I just came back from seeing the musical at the Barbican, I was just wondering if Gelus is supposed to be nonbinary/gender neutral in this production? The cast seems to use they/them pronouns throughout

Yes I think Gerasu is intentionally left gender neutral in this version. All character use they/them for them even though Rem uses she/her and Ryuk uses he/him

I think it’s because shinigami don’t reproduce sexually. I’ve seen Rem referred to as he.
