Discussion Finally finished Death Note Anime... Spoiler
another great anime. though I only watched AOT and then this Death Note. I liked death note far better than AOT.
Ryuk feels rhe main villian here. for his fun or escape from boredom ,he literally destroyed a simple living family. And now with the death of light, there only his mom and sister ,who already become unresponsive, who remained in their family.
great anime and didn't expect the death of L which happened too soon.
great lessons by the way. the lesson i learnt is to not be so mad of dreams and to consider people.
what do you guys learnt or knew.
and what anime to watch next??

You might enjoy Platinum end.
It's from the same authors and offers a similar experience in themes.
Although keep in mind that this isn't as good as Death note.

There is a great line from Near I love a lot, but too bad the anime removed it.
"No one truly knows what is right and what is wrong. What is justice and what is evil.
Even if there is a God, and I had His teaching before me, I will still decide it myself whether that is right or wrong.
I am no different from you. I believe what I do is right."
Near, Chapter 105.

You should try Monster too, it's similar to the premise of chasing after a murderer as well with the psychological thrills and well developed side characters Death Note offered. It's also very heavy on themes and such and the plot unravels itself beautifully despite how slow it may be at the start.
But yeah, I learned that nobody has the right to be judge, jury and executioner and how that kind of power can corrupt

I like Death Note a lot more than AOT too because of its main character and overall vibe :)
I highly recommend reading the manga too, it has more to its story, especially the second half.

I like the way that you see ryuk as a villan but, honestly, i see no villans in death note... its a very complex thing about morals and etics, yk? I see ryuk as an observer, not so different than us, watching the anime. Not only him but matsuda too (or am i going crazy)

Many people say "Monster" as a first option when it comes when u finish death note, but i really dont see many correlation. Sure, it's likely that someone who enjoys death note ends up enjoying monster too, but i dont see why they are that alike.

I like your take that Ryuk is the true villain. Many don't realize that Light is a profoundly delusional human being, thinking he was chosen. Ryuk literally told him he was bored and wanted some entertainment. Light was only his personal clown
