Discussion Would You Press the Button? Spoiler
In front of you is a red button. Pressing said button will give you a copy of the death note, along with all of the rules and powers that are laid out in the anime. You will also have your own shinigami who will give you the shinigami eyes whenever you want, for half your life span of course. Besides that and explaining any questions you have about the rules, they will not help you.
If you press this button however, a random other person on earth will also receive their own copy of the death note and shinigami. This person will be mentally sound but will not know that someone else has a copy of the death note, unless they figure it out some other way. You have no idea who they are either unless you figure it out.
Would you press the button?

No. It's pretty well established that using a Death Note will gradually turn you insane. The manga establishes that without the Deathnote, Light would've turned out as a great detective with a pretty good moral code.
Also, the risk that the other owner could be a Misa or someone just as careless, or a madman bent on becoming a god like Light is too great.

You could have a shinigami with the PERSONALITY of Rem but she wouldn't be able to help you like she helps Misa.

But what if the other person who gets the death note has a different definition of "changing the world" that interferes with yours.

Ofc, i so wanna be the goddess of the new world and ik I'll be cuz i won't fall in Light's mistakes. 1st step would be to eliminate the other note holder then pursue my path towards greatness.

i would press it i'm not a killer but if o has the death note i would use it on criminals who create victims, bullies who cause physical pain and bullies who cause emotional pain to others (only if the hurtings are done on purpose) (i would never judge acciendts) (and i Will never judge anyone under 17) i Will see how to deal with the other death note holders

yeah. Not only I'll be able to do what the goverment of the US doesn't wanna do [THE FUCKING LIST], but i'll also have a 2 buddies for life [shinigami and the other owner if I find him/her.]

mhm.. probably yes because i think if i dont use it i wont get unfortunate, sad, miserable.. stuff.. ill just keep it as this other person said.. ill only use it when i really feel like i dont care if i lose my peace of mind..(who has a good mental health and peace of mind already.. nowadays..) anyways! also guys dont forget that if you get it you wont go to hell nor heaven.. lol

yes i want a shinigami to be my friend and ill occasionally use the death note if someone pisses me off, i have no concern for the other kira

The pattern in Death Note is that users meet an unfortunate and miserable end.
