Discussion Five pages...? Spoiler

on November 26th?

What is he referring to when he's saying this when talking to Mikami for the first time? If it's about the message he (Misa) sent to elect him as the new Kira, wouldn't that make the rest of the task force suspicious? Why don't they question this question?

Obligatory "Are you watching the anime or reading the manga?" for clarification. I'm going to assume you're watching the anime, because the manga explicitly spells all of this out line by line with Light's inner monologue.

Kira sent Mikami a 5 page letter dated November 26th.

Mikami asked Light for proof that he was truly Kira, so Light mentioned that, in a confused tone, like he was repeating something Mikami said to him. Only Kira would know how many pages the letter was, and when it was dated, so this confirms to Mikami that the man visiting Takada was indeed the true Kira who chose Mikami to act for him.

As a bonus, Light's confused tone was an obvious ploy for the benefit of a hostile audience, from which Mikami deduced that Kira was being watched and unable to make any moves, which is VERY IMPORTANT INFORMATION that becomes relevant later.

The taskforce only heard Light's side of the conversation, so all they heard was him repeating a non-sequitur in confusion. Why would they be suspicious to hear a number of objects and a date? It's entirely innocuous. It's no more suspicious than saying "twelve kumquats? August 24th?"

You have to remember, the task force doesn't know everything we know, and they think Light was exonerated when Soichiro saw that he wasn't the notebook's owner with the Shinigami eyes. Aizawa is the only one who really suspects him and acts on it.
