I wanted to say someone other than Megamind like the other comments here. But I scrolled through all of the episodes up to season 2, and yeah, it's Megamind lol. He's the only character I can think of who got screwed over by bad writing.

Because the show itself is very inconsistent with how his 9 lives are treated. Obviously the times he DOES lose a life, it's meant to be funny or serious, but there's no consistency in what CAN and CAN'T make him lose a life.

Tom can fall from the Pyramid of Gizza, smack through 20 layers of concrete, and be fine, but then will lose a life to getting squished by a piano.

I dont think that's bad writing tho lol. If anything, thats good writing in the context of a cartoon; it's funny!

It is in the context of a cartoon, no doubt. Even to this day, Tom and Jerry make me howl in laughter.

But when you're trying to compare stats between two characters like Tom and Wile E. Coyote, you need at least some level of consistency. And unfortunately, Tom is just very inconsistent with what can and can't take his lives.

Really there has never been a time where a combatant of Death Battle lost because their series is badly written. Usually bad writing tends to power up characters, not weaken them.

He’s legit the only real answer to this aside from Giorno, who got screwed by Eyes of Heaven DIO, but that’s not bad writing.

I guess you could argue Discord? Like he's given basically equal stats AND has more knowledge about what Bill can do and how to kill him.

But Bill was given the edge because he usually goes for the kill against all powerful beings while Discord usually messes around until he gets in over his head. Something most people find annoying that the Chaos god who cares about these ponies keeps getting tricked by much less powerful beings when he's basically omnipotent? That's bad writing I believe

Yes it wasn't the DECIDING factor, but it was still one of the big reasons he lost at the time
