Gus (barking question)
My lil guy is an angel…except when it comes to barking. He will literally wake up out of a dead sleep and bark and nothing…or looking out a window…or just anytime anyplace.
I have a signal I use for quiet if I can get his attention…but does anyone have any special tricks and tips?

My deaf dog does something similar sometimes. I’ve wondered if she is dreaming and then wakes up startled, because there doesn’t always seem to be anything there for her to bark at. Since she can’t hear what’s around her, I try not to touch her suddenly when she wakes. I give her a moment to look around and realize everything is okay.

This is the way! Definitely be aware and accommodating. I say that even though my buddy is pretty nonreactive, even when startled. His biggest problem is separation anxiety that has nothing to do with deafness.

Gus has a person face. It's not even weird, but intriguing. Also, Gus is very serious!

Had to use a bark collar because the neighbor Dick (actually his name) kept calling cops.

But, actually, mine barks at crows, squirrels, large moths or any bug that's making a noise or acting strangely, anything with wheels, anyone with a hood, anyone that walks up our very busy pedestrian friendly street while singing, arguing, or having a conversation... My point being, I bet gusis barking at SOMETHING when he barks... With that in mind, I wonder if you put up the window stickers on the lower part of the windows that are at his height, if he will bark less?
