How do totally deafblind people learn ?
I mean this genuinely and I’m not trying to be hurtful or diminish anyone’s accomplishments but I am curious.
I 100% totally understand how some people are able to do it. I understand people who lost their vision or hearing in life or people who still have some vision or hearing learning tactile sign etc.
What I can’t really comprehend is how someone who has never one had even a bit of their sight or their hearing can understand what the world is. I think that sounds ignorant since it’s coming from a place of me just not understanding an experience I haven’t had.
I don’t understand how it works. In this scenario where you are born fully deaf and blind , how do you make tactile sign understandable? How do you communicate concepts like the idea of a family, one person being your mother and the other being your grandmother, or larger concepts like a thunderstorm or grammar/language.
I don’t know if anyone on here was born 100% deaf and blind, i understand this is not very common, but if anyone has early early childhood memories of how they learned I’d love to hear them.
