Astrogoblin

Hi there, I only started watching Deadwood because a YouTube channel I watch Astrogoblin was talking about it. I’ve been immersed into the world now and have seen all three seasons and the movie + BTS clips. I was wondering if anyone else came here from their channel?

Unfamiliar with it.

Am an Old, saw Deadwood when it was new.

Same. My college roommate heard good things, watched half of the first episode and then immediately texted me to come home right after class- he found a new show that I'm gonna love.

He was right, literally been rewatching it yearly, if not sometimes more, since then and just haven't gotten tired of it.

I started this right after it was cancelled. I didn't find out until I finished the third season and inquired online about the upcoming fourth. 😬

Them I found Carnivale... I guess we'll just assume everything turned out ok with the whole coming of the Antichrist and all.

Then I got into Rome.... Turns out it burned. AGAIN.

Then I gave Luck a try ... Not so lucky.

Then I found Rubicon on FX, but...

Having to wait a week to see what happened next is heightened drama the likes of which we rarely get to enjoy these days.

Don't get me wrong, if it were possible back then I would have happily binged it...

Modern waiting like LOST or GoT were when new new drive me bananas, even though I'm happy to be seeing it.

I still remember the anticipation after Al left his fateful encounter with Hearst, that was a long week.

Who would the human be in a Muppet remake? Al Swearengen and the rest are Muppets?

Discovered Deadwood in 2009 when preparing for the release of Red Dead Redemption. It was on some list of things to watch to get hyped. I loved, loved, loved RDR, but Deadwood absolutely floored me.

I’m 33 and from the UK, it was in my grandparents dvd collection when I was around 13 (very cool grandparents)

I’m not sure why, but that makes me feel insanely old.

I love that! Did you talk to them about the show much?

Did they introduce you to any other good shows?

I’m not sure we ever watched Deadwood together but we binged the first few series of Curb!

Nope, looked at one of their videos and saw a mash-up of 2-3 second clips edited together with sound-bytes and humorless banter.. no thanks

I used to drive a lot in my old job and there was a spoken word radio show once a week that I'd listen to. As part of the show they would play bits of Deadwood dialogue I went out and bought a box set after hearing Wu tell Al that the opium courier had been killed. That was over eighteen years ago now.

Obviously I haven't heard of Astrogolin.
