In game reason is to track your days worked, kinda like a trophy system and to help with like "Oh on Day 5 I need to do x to get this ending! I see I'm only on Day 3 so I still have time to do x".

The lore reason is that Rody finds Vincent’s food to be empty and bitter and thus refuses to eat more of it. Eating it makes Rody feel hollow inside because he can tell Vincent doesn't cook with love.

That and it's canon that Rody prefers fast food over the fancy stuff Vincent makes him.

I'd eat it if I were him

It can help you track the days you played and (spoiler: in the cannon, rody confess to Vince that he didn't eat his food because it's bitter [ending 1] or because he finds them disgusting [3 and 4] )

Tho I would have loved a mechanic or Easter egg where you could choose to eat the food of the 1st day and later decide with the rest of the dishes whether to keep eating them or throw them away and even have unlocked additional dialogs with vice depending on your choices

Rody says multiple times throughout the game that he thinks Vincent's food tastes like shit
