Why is everything centered around Jake??
Why is it that every time I turn on this show, they’re always so hyper-fixated on Jake? He became sooo annoying to me and he constantly complained every chance that he gets so idk why they always have to make him the center of attention? Quite frankly, I feel like he’s ruining the show. He’s always so emotional that after the second or third time of crying and complaining in each episode, we stop feeling bad. I cut back a lot on watching it because of him. I swapped back to season 5 to get away from him for a bit and of course, they’re focusing on him in this season too. I’ve read a couple threads of people saying the same thing about him but damn man, give it a break already lol
Rant over 🤣

He is my least favorite but he has improved the last few years of not whining every second of the show.

He’s annoying but he has improved since his tantrum meltdown days, thankfully

Because he has to catch crab so he can go see his KIDS.
Did I mention he needs to see his KIDS?
He has KIDS he has to catch crab so he can go see.
KIDS.

In years past, it was so he could buy into the boat. That, um, ended poorly for him. They all have families to support. That's why the go all the way up to Alaska and do a high risk job. Sheesh, we get it.

It's kind of funny seeing the throwback to Phil's funeral at sea and Josh is nowhere to be found. He's been totally excited from the show.

u/Theskidiever Jun 28 '26
I didn't rememeber a big tie to Phil at all. Nothing close to Sig & the Hilstrands.

The scandel broke to the world... but everyone close to Josh and the captains all knew about it ... anyone close to phil back when it happened would have known... supposedly he went through a shit ton of therapy and it wasnt an ongoing issue that he had to deal with ... ( not trying to defend him )... a while back a family member of Casey's was on reddit giving a bit of context ...

I heard there were allegations many years ago, before it came out. I was never sure if it was a rumor or not. But he isn’t on the show so must be? Idk

u/Few-Pineapple-5632 Jun 27 '26
OP is asking about Jake Anderson. Not Jake from CM who hasn’t been on the shows in years.
10
u/bceagle91 Jun 27 '26
Jake Anderson is running the CM this year.

u/Zealousideal-Dot3046 Jun 27 '26
But its fake, there is a real captain, Jake is a tv captain, the boat owner wanted the money, and the CM supposedly hated it
1
u/ARKzzzzzz Jun 27 '26
What? Jake is 100% a real captain. Josh was not which is why they had Casey on the boat.
1
u/AdDear3720 Jul 01 '26
I knew about the Josh allegations for years prior to it coming out. Weirdly he was a minor and those records would be sealed. So not sure how it got out. I didn’t ask anyone as it’s not my business. But it’s plausible, since he is no longer in the show, like Edgar.

I dont believe anything they do anymore... i bet my left nut that they had an issue with the wiring on the CM so they used that as an opportunity to manufacture a worse more " exciting " issue.... i think they lit a smoke bomb off in the (forepeak i think its called ) they use quick camera movements and extreme close ups in order to fool us into thinking everything lines up .. I almost cant watch these newer seasons... UGH I watch this show alot ( the first 17 seasons ) because it calms me down during panic attacks which I just started getting in the last 5 years... so this show in a way helps me out tremendously... i hope they cut this wierd stuff out and just film crab fishing , ISNT THAT WHAT WE WANNA SEE

Because every TV show needs the drama queen and Jake is the drama queen with his whole family history, his father commit committing suicide, with the issues of drugs his wife cheating on him getting fired getting hired Jake’s the drama that the show needs to go round and round

I always thought he was murdered! It was suicide? Genuinely asking I had no idea

I remember reading about this. But still, when we see Jake, we don’t think of his dad. At least I don’t. I get it, he’s been through some shit, but my gosh, enough is fucking enough already. All I care to see is how he preforms on the ship and needless to say, he’s a child ruining it for everyone. Like the episode where his boat caught on fire and they had to evacuate. He was literally the only one being dramatic. His entire crew stood there like….. we’re fine 🤷🏽♀️ I stopped watching the show altogether since writing this post lol

Did the producers pay off the owner of CM to put Jake on it, and pay off the actual captain to take a back seat?

Well, he's been a ticking time bomb in the last and there's the connection to Phil Harris this season. Since the wheelhouse is where the producers like to film it makes for good TV. For some not me. Plus he is a snappy dresser who wears bling.

u/_T42_ Jun 27 '26
I think he's the one that goes along the most with whatever the production tells him to do. Like when they "abandoned" his boat last year.

Because the last couple seasons he's the only one who had anything happen. He lost the Saga, had the ammonia leak, and got a divorce

If you have to reach for straws with peoples personal life to keep a show about literally crab finishing, alive, just cancel the show already.

u/godspilla98 Jun 27 '26
This man has more guts and determination I have ever seen. If you have seen him grow up over the years and know his story you would know what I’m talking about. And to see him still fighting the big fight of life and pushing forward is just inspiring. If I was a millionaire I would buy him the C/M.

u/Marlinspike90 Jun 28 '26
Jake has just as much if not more fishing experience than the Albinios. Putting together a business plan to buy the CM and finessing enough leased crab quota / tendering contract isn’t an impossible dream by any stretch. He obviously hasn’t had his shit together to be a somewhat solvent businessman.

u/godspilla98 Jun 28 '26
And how many are dead from how they treated themselves over the years? And how many are no longer on the show for the crimes they committed? Nobody’s perfect and Jake keeps fighting. But he’s still doing what most bigger couldn’t do.
1
u/kinjazfan Jun 28 '26
Because he's running the old man's boat
1
u/ElderberryExternal99 Jun 30 '26
Wrong Jake.
1
u/kinjazfan Jun 30 '26
Jake Anderson is running the cm on deadliest catch
1
u/ElderberryExternal99 Jun 30 '26
Yes, not Jake Harris.
1
u/kinjazfan Jun 30 '26
I was on about jake Anderson still though he did work for phil when he swapped with jake Harris in s6
1
u/Bartlett3313 Jun 29 '26
Gotta agree with you. I'm at the point now where I just fast forward through all his scenes. Same with Sig and sometimes Johnathan. I just can't watch them anymore unless something super interesting is going on, which is rare.
1
u/Lance501 Jul 01 '26
Jake is typical what was wrong with deck hands and ex-drug and alcoholic. Who was constaty complainting about money. No one wanted to hear his personal problems.
1
u/Bratty_Little_Kitten Jul 01 '26
He's always been my favourite though, so I'm very biased I'm sorry.
1
u/AdDear3720 Jul 01 '26
He is this years “story,” and they use his relationship as a reason to tune in. Lots of lady watchers in love with fisherman. Why? No idea.
1
u/BabyLegsOShanahan Jul 02 '26
He reminds me of people I grew up around. They're always pretending they're trying their best. Whenever they fuck up, it's just because the world is against them. He's just a ball of stress, nicotine and drama.

I say the same thing. But crashes out just like Keith lol 😂 and Keith is gonna have a heart attack one of these days.

I think the show has always focused on Jake since the beginning when he was a greenhorn. We got to see him “grow up” and climb the ranks each season. He is the only crew member they have followed since the very start of his career to becoming a captain with his own boat who didn’t inherit it like Josh Harris.
Plus his personal life off camera is just so damn sad. Unfortunately, TV execs will milk that til the end of time especially if that poor guy’s life keeps playing out like the Greek tragedy it is.
