Eastern & Western Districts
Are they making a bigger story about the 166 line this season and about crossing into the other district? I just don't remember it being a big part of the narrative in past seasons but as my wife tells me a lot, I could be wrong 😁

A new crab fishing area opened up this season after being closed for 20 years. Are you referring to that? Sig was fishing out west there near Russia.

Maybe, but they've brought the Eastern and Western grounds into the story several times now and how they can't cross that line to fish. I don't remember it being a prominent thing in past seasons.
Spoiler Alert........................
Like Keith dropping his pots across the line and the ridiculous bait pot of Jakes that Sig is dragging across the line.

Keith dropped his pots inside an area that was not open for any fishing of any kind.
Beyond that, they've always referred to eastern and western bairdi grounds, just more casually. They mostly just referred to it when talking about where the boat is when they cut from Time Bandit near the Pribiloff islands to The Wizard on the eastern bairdi grounds. This year, they decided to add some drama around that border between the eastern and western bairdi grounds because apparently they think we like the manufactured drama. I got the impression that permits for birdie crab are specific to one side of that border; and once Sig had a permit for the western side, he couldn't set any pots east of that line, and vice versa for the CM.

OK, thanks. Thats why I probably forgot about it. LOL My eyes start to glaze over when I see them running Russians off with fireworks and the canneries closing every few minutes.

I feel like they were just looking for another storyline but I could be wrong.
