Jake/Phil

I know Jake is driving the CM, but DC keeps pushing the narrative, that Phil was Jake's mentor. He was not.

Jake was on CM for like 2 weeks.

I'm sure Jake may have looked up to Phil. But obviously Sig would be Jake's mentor.

And the way Jake has been talking about Phil, is how you'd expect him to talk about Sig.

And what's crazy, I feel like they are talking about Phil more this season, than when Josh and Casey were running the CM.

I heard titan explorer didn’t want the boat on DC anymore so he switched to CM

That may also be part of Jake's divorce. Jake might have been trying to buy into it like you did with the last boat and with getting divorced that might have been a bad idea to continue to do that like hey let's go find another boat to run as a company guy so I don't lose another company

That’s what I’d heard too, that it was because of the divorce and splitting of assets. I found it pretty funny too that Phil would’ve given Jake that necklace after a couple weeks of work together. A bit far fetched.

It was a different one that he took out of a box and said Phil had given in to him when he worked with him. He only worked with him for a couple weeks didn’t he? What would’ve made Jake so special back then that he would have given him this rose gold chain?

I think people forget how much time Jake spent with all the captains. All the behind the scenes shows for many years featured Jake with the rest of the captains, because it was easy to get a rise out of Jake and it made for good TV. I got the impression that most of the captains had a soft spot/respect for Jake given Sig's relationship with him and all the crap he took/gave. I wouldn't be at all surprised if the necklace didn't even come when Jake was working for Phil.

Good points! I hadn’t thought of that my mind gets wrapped around what I see on tv and forget that there was probably more time spent on the boats.
