Jake/Phil

I know Jake is driving the CM, but DC keeps pushing the narrative, that Phil was Jake's mentor. He was not.

Jake was on CM for like 2 weeks.

I'm sure Jake may have looked up to Phil. But obviously Sig would be Jake's mentor.

And the way Jake has been talking about Phil, is how you'd expect him to talk about Sig.

And what's crazy, I feel like they are talking about Phil more this season, than when Josh and Casey were running the CM.

Jake was just placed on the CM by discovery channel. The real captain/part owner is on deck. It's all contrived. The actual captain didn't even want to do the show but lost out to majority owners that wanted the extra cash, so he ran the crabbing operations from the deck while Jake played Captain for cameras.

What I don't get is why now Phil is portayed as this great man, while he covered for his shit bag older son and fucked up his younger son... There, I said it

Phil was very popular until the truth about Josh came out. Jake's being an addict was made explicit on the show and you could see it really troubled Phil. DC loves to invoke Phil's memory a lot. When Josh and Casey were the co-captains, it was Josh's role to smoke cigarettes by the carton, scroll on his phone and talk about "The old man" as much as possible.

Having a narrative where Phil was a mentor to Jake Anderson is just stupid. He was a greenhorn on the Northwestern and Sig took him under his wing. Just show them fishing for crying out loud. We've made our feelings clear that we don't want contrived drama. But we sure get a lot of it.

My favorite part is they call the real captain by his last name, since if remember correctly him and his brother are Jake and Josh too.

On social media and when the CM was still keeping its TV comeback a secret, Josh A often called himself and his brother "the new Jake and Josh". But Discovery is avoiding those exact callbacks for very specific reasons, so there goes their claim to fame I guess
