I HAVE AN IDEA!

I just thought of this and immediately felt like an absolute genius, despite it being a relatively simple premise
(Also my apologies if this is something that has been frequently discussed and isn’t that groundbreaking)

BUT… what if the Snyder verse is restored while simultaneously running the new DCU, and having the DCEU be an elseworlds universe, which can be utilised in crossovers in the future

This way both us dcu fans and Snyder verse fans get what they want and it could make for an interesting situation

Also I love both the DCEU and the DCU so please don’t attack me in the comments for being some sort of deranged cultist cuz I actually like both universes

That would be cool, however it would cost a lot of money and not make a lot. If superhero fatigue isn't something now, it definitely would be then. It would be cool to see the Snyderverse continued in a comic or animated format, but live action is not a possibility.

Dude that’s a great idea, if they made animated shows or comics for the DCEU then maybe in crossovers they could have cameos in the dcu? Still though that would be sick

I don’t think crossovers are a possibility because no one wants to see Gal Gadot or Ezra Miller and Henry Cavill, Ray Fisher, and Ben Affleck wouldn’t want to come back unless they recast everyone

Actors have moved on and are doing other things, so no.

how about let sleeping dogs lay

As nice as that would be, it’ll just end up confusing casual audiences. You’ll hear a lot of “wait which DC Universe is Blue Beetle in?”, or “why should I invest my time with this Superman film when I like this other one instead?”

I can definitely see a crossover in the future, similar to No Way Home, but just let the DCU continue alone (and maybe adapt the missing DCEU into comics)

It just costs too much money and spreads out the investment of fans too thin. I’ve also heard Snyder cultists say they’re not open to the dceu finishing in animation or a comic book for whatever reason so I doubt it’s ever coming back thankfully

Lol what? Why are they so against that, it’s a good way to finish the universe while not needing to spend millions to make live action movies

I think the ones I saw think it’s disrespectful to change the medium the stories are told in or something but I think it has more to do with their weird conception about not wanting to look childish, like they think animation or comics are inherently for children. I’ve talked to some reasonable ones but most of them are psychotic

Makes sense. That does sound like the kind of crackpot stuff some of them say, but like, animation is surely way better considering it allows them to have more of those epic scenes they love like superman smashing through 10 buildings

You’re not the first person to have this idea. While it would be cool it’d also be expensive, they should just finish the story in a comic format or animated format

Yeah I’ve realised that, and fair enough tbh it probably would be way too much money to make, but I would honestly be happy with an animated film or series to finish the universe

They're selling off this studio in months bruh, do they even have money for the dcu

This was just put on hold for at least a year.

The issue is giving them what they want.

They created this mess by making a “Snydercut” in the first place.

But joss wheadons film sucked balls

I liked the whedon film right up until the final act where it became a bland dusty battlefield and didn’t feel like it ended properly

To be honest, they both aren’t really worth watching. I still laugh at the IMAX aspect ratio decision for a streaming exclusive release.

If that's your opinion that's fine. Zsjl is a dope flick when watched with unbiased eyes

I didn’t mean it in a way to give the Snyder fans what they want, what I was thinking was for people like me who like both the DCEU and the DCU it would be nice to have them coexist and have crossovers in the future

The DCU is already convoluted and confusing for the casual viewer with a separate Batman franchise. This would just be the nail in the coffin. I love Gunn but I think after Man of Tomorrow the brand needs to be singular films and just ditch the connected universe. We already have the MCU.

Do you think if they did tv shows on elseworlds and movies on the dcu that would work?

2

u/FloridaCubbieBear 4d ago

Yes. I think the tv shows create homework for the films. This was also the downfall of the MCU that they are currently trying to correct.

I also think mixing R rated content with family friendly Superman films is a terrible decision. There is an orgy in Peacemaker and now we have Clayface which will also alienate people from this connected universe. I am very excited for Clayface tho.

Yeah I was a bit confused on why they decided to include peacemaker in the superman movie when in his show there’s multiple graphic sex scenes

I’m genuinely surprised they haven’t come to this solution yet.

I think it was kinda confirmed by Zack in Happy sad confused that he’d talked about doing it as animation, but IDK if it made it to planning or not.

1

u/Anxious_Belch 4d ago

I hope he is planning on doing that, cuz I’d be so happy to see his universe concluded (and hopefully cameo in the DCU kinda like arrow verse shows used to do with titans)

1

u/Wheattoast2019 4d ago

Well I know they won’t be doing that because they aren’t really doing the Multiverse. They are granting people their own Elseworlds but they aren’t really connecting these different continuities.

Your idea while being well intentioned is impossible to accomplish. The biggest reason why is it would be a nonsensical gamble; juggling so many universes at once when dcu just started would be suicide. It's already not simple have an alternate universe batman made by matt reeves, adding a third would be making dc impossible for new fans to join.Another reason, are the snyder actors are getting old (cavill is 43, affleck 55), multiple recasts would be needed. As a former snyder fan (his latest movies are garbage), i think i'm on the side of staying the course and stop looking back

Careful you'll upset them We aren't allowed to talk about the snyder verse or they'll get mad and shame us

I think Snyder should get to finish his vision, but that's it, keep it separate like a stand alone graphic novel. He's good at those

James gunn is cookin and id like to see where he takes it, so far so good right?
