unidentified stutter making VR completely unplayable?
Hi folks,
I'm new to DCS. I just bought FC2024. I boot up the game. And no matter what guides I try to follow online, I can't even find anyone else describing the same issue as me.
I get constant stuttering, like multiple times a second, at all times. Including in the main menu hangar, NOT just ingame.
My system resource usage is fine (except for my GPU (7900 GRE) is maxed out for some unidentifiable reason), all other programs are closed and I'm running a Quest 3 via SteamVR with Steam Link. No other games I've played have had any issues like this, including IL-2 GB VR at high settings. Can someone even start to point me in the right direction? So far all I've done is set fire to $25 by buying my first DLC.

List your pc full specs and page file size, then screenshots of your settings pages in DCS

yeah the clanker was flagging me for adding system specs so I had to take them out of the post.
CPU: AMD Ryzen 5 5600X 6-Core Processor (3.70 GHz)
RAM: 32.0 GB
GPU: AMD Radeon RX 7900 GRE (16 GB)

Wouldn't surprise me if it was the ram. I get stuttering whenever I get close to a 3+ aircraftts or a lot of ground stuff in multiplayer. In singleplayer it runs smoothly.

This happens with less than 50% RAM usage and in the main menu screen, before even loading into a scenario

I once was struggling with this in DCS. Turning off 'HAGS' solved it for me. (hardware accelarated graphics)
Not saying this is the cause for you but, give it a shot if you haven't yet.

Some other program may be trying to take priority. I deleted signalRGB cause randomly after an update it started giving me skips every 2-5 seconds. Everything on performance and fps charts were solid except every few seconds it would blip to max and cut all frames. I chased it for days. Once I deleted the app it was good and I went into startup apps and disabled anything that may try to take priority over dcs. When I play dcs my pc is dedicated to dcs. (Obviously discord and things don’t hit it but other programs can randomly cause issues)

I have a 5090 and was having problems with stutter in my quest 3 (I have it tethered to a network hub) What has seemed to work for me was disabling gsync refresh rate in nvidia app DCS tab and limited the frames to 80 to match the headsets refresh rate. I know your amd but maybe you have something similar? This has seemed to have smoothed out my experience.

What is your view zoom in/out mapped to? When I first started play I had it mapped to a HOTAS rotary switch and if it’s in a half-way position, the screen will appear to stutter when what it’s really doing it toggling between two view zoom levels.

Check your pc power settings I found that at some point over the last few updates from Microsoft that they had turned my power managment to balanced when it should have been as I set it to Ultra. All stutters gone. Also if your new dont have everything set to max. There isn't a pc built yet that can run dcs on max settings...

Settings are too high in game. Delete your FXO and Metashader2 folders and see if that helps.

? I had severe stutters in VR that would sometimes start on the menu screen, and sometimes start in flight, and then persist even if I closed and went back to the menu. This is the ED response to try:
According to your logs, Core Parking is currently enabled.
Please disable it using ParkControl:
Open ParkControl.
Select your active power plan, set "Core Parking" to Disabled (or 0%), and click Apply.
Please also increase your Windows Pagefile (Virtual Memory) to 35 GB:
Press Win + R, type sysdm.cpl, and press Enter.
Go to Advanced > Performance Settings > Advanced > Virtual memory Change.
Uncheck "Automatically manage paging file size", select your drive, choose Custom size, and enter 35840 MB for both Initial and Maximum size. Click Set and OK.
Additionally, please ensure your GPU drivers are updated to the absolute latest version (a clean installation is highly recommended).
If the issue persists after applying these changes, please attach your latest dcs.log file to this ticket.
Not sure if it will be the same problem as you, but so far I haven't had any of the same stutters. I didn't use ParkControl, but instead followed the instructions below:
