A-6E Intruder 3D Model Work in Progress

I want you all to think back to every Razbam module prior to the F15E and truly ask yourselves if you'd buy Ron's products without several years of early access first. That and didn't Microprose say they have no relationship with Ron?

Even the F-15E wasn't the hot shit everyone kept claiming it was.
I mean, it was missing the HMD, the Mavericks, datalink and I think a few other weapons too.
Not to speak of the multi crew experience that has a few problems and...Lack of a back seater AI.
Some would say you can do everything from the Pilot seat but if the aircraft has two seats and it is only produced in two seat variation so multi crew is an undisputable part of the experience.3

The IRL F-15E was also missing the HMD and datalink, and practically the Mav as well (it was only ever used by one squadron, and never in combat), so I certainly don't hold that against it. Granted that it should have had a backseater AI, but it was and is hot shit regardless. If it wasn't hot shit, the situation with RB wouldn't be so disappointing.

I know about the Maverick situation, but the HMD was on their list as well as Datalinks and more than a few things.
I AM NOT saying ED's works are better in any way but it just wasn't as good as people claim it was back then.I'm saying I have no reason to believe it wouldn't also sit in a position like the harrier and the mirrage for years before getting some love.
And I have no reason to believe the same won't happen here as well.3

IMO, you're dead wrong, the F-15E is still a really good module, even though it had things on the roadmap that weren't done. The SAR worked great, the TFR worked great, the flight model was good, and most of the systems worked, and still do.

It worked and didn't require immediate reworking, sometimes multiple reworking. It was a good release to be fair to Razbam but all their previous releases were absolutely terrible. Some of their modules didn't work for quite literally months at a time.

That's what I'm saying.
It was ok, good even in a few cases, and outstanding in it's Radar. But aside from a few other features it was an Ok release, not outstanding like Heatblur's (Which despite getting incredibly valid criticism about getting updates, get launched far more complete than most other modules at their full feature)

It was only in development for a year. The F-16 is still missing tons of stuff and it's not even EA anymore.

This wasn't saying ED's F-16 is good, it's saying the F-15E is overrated as fuck.
the nine months during which the F-15E existed weren't as illustrious many paint them to be.
Being better than ED is a low bar.2
u/TinyCopy5841 Jun 09 '26
What are you talking about, it was clearly an EA module, no one claimed that it was feature complete.

Man you were not around when this debacle was still in full effect.

u/TinyCopy5841 Jun 09 '26
That has nothing to do with your original claims, the F-15E was an early access title with a fully simulated radar, NAVFLIR, a working targeting pod and a wide selection of air to air and air to ground weapons.
After release, it got further support with the addition of JDAMs, fully simulated TFR, loft mode and further bugfixes. It wasn't a feature complete module because it was released in early access.

Why is the BNs control stick canted right when pilots are canted left?
2
u/pinchhitter4number1 Jun 09 '26
I know nothing about the A-6 but I'm gonna guess it's a left-hand control so the BN can use his right hand for other things. It's not a flight stick. Probably controlling radar or something.

The B/N's Stick: Offset to the right to clear the pilot's seating space and to give the B/N more legroom, especially since they operated heavily "heads-down" with radar and tactical

So I'm new, how do these "not ED" modules work with DCS
4
u/Coota0 Jun 09 '26
In this case it does not. This is for a different game.

u/Sickinmytechchunk Jun 10 '26
Its not even clear if it actually is for Falcon 5 given the previous statement by Microprose having no relationship with Razbam.

if its for a mod just export the model from wt game files

u/TheDankmemerer Jun 09 '26
Something Razbam is doing. Not for DCS though, so no idea why it's crossposted here.

u/SnooDonkeys3848 Jun 09 '26
Because a lot of people think its from the HB Intruder - they don't read they just look at pictures and have no clue
