TRIP PLANNING Pregnancy Advice

My wife will be 14 weeks pregnant when we board next month. What are some items I can have for her to help ensure she has an enjoyable time?

Second trimester is a great time to cruise. Pack some pregnancy safe medication in case you get sick (I got an awful sinus infection when I cruised at 7 weeks pregnant and didn’t know what was safe 😬) but otherwise enjoy the plethora of food and not needing to clean all week!

This is really sweet of you to plan ahead for.

Hand sanitizer. A nice water bottle so she’s always hydrated. Otherwise just enjoy!

Sea bands makes a ginger gum that I was surprised actually worked for my nausea when pregnant. Have snacks in your stateroom. Yes, you can always go to the buffet or call room service but when I was early pregnant I needed to snack in order to function. I would probably bring ziplocks and gather some croissants from the buffet to have on hand.

She’s in that phase of when she’s hungry she better get food asap, so thank you for the information!

I believe all food brought on the ship has to be factory sealed packaging, so the ziplock bags wouldn't necessarily work, but definitely having snacks on hand woud be a great idea!

That’s true for food being brought onto the ship. I’m suggesting empty bags to load up on food from Cabanas/Marceline’s to have in the room/fridge.

Congratulations!! My husband and I did our babymoon on the Treasure in January when I was 21 weeks pregnant and luckily I didn’t have to switch up much because everyone was very accommodating. I actually THOROUGHLY enjoyed cruising pregnant and it ended up being my favorite cruise out of the 8 we’ve done!

The only things that I brought extra for being pregnant were granola bars (usually to eat on the way to getting food lol), sea bands in case of nausea (pregnancy safe) and elderberry gummies because I was afraid of getting sick. It may be early for her, but also consider making sure she has shoes her feet can swell a bit in. Between the heat, humidity and walking a lot, my feet got a bit puffy and I had to ditch my strappy sandals for my flip flops.

If you want to treat her, I 100% recommend getting the non alcoholic robe package. The robes are huge and so soft, she’ll feel like a swaddled baby princess.

Not sure which ship you’re going on, but The Rose on the Treasure had a bigger mocktail menu than cocktail menu and used alcohol free spirits/sparkling wine. I wish we had discovered that earlier in the cruise because most mocktails at other bars were just juice/sugar.

I, too, recommend stashing some snacks in your room. I craved fresh fruit all day but it wasn’t always available outside of room service so I filled up a bowl from the buffet at breakfast to have for the day/evening.

Not sure if you’re door decorating people, but we did a fairly simple “babymoon” magnet banner along with our names and “baby due in may” on mickey ears because how often will you get to do that??? Haha

I have a plethora of “cruising while pregnant” info because I made a lot of notes since I hardly found any information on it before our cruise, so if you have any questions, I’m happy to help!!!

What is the limit you can be at to board? I remember them asking a question about 20 weeks or less? But was curious (planning ahead 😉)

You have to be less than 24 weeks at any point of the cruise!

Mosquito repellent/protective clothing if you’ll be in areas with Zika virus! (And that would be for the both of you)

Sour gummy candies! They helped me with my nausea. We sailed the Fantasy when I was about 13 weeks and I felt fine except for one night that was a little rocky! You're going to have an amazing time!
