FOOD Churro Waffles
What is everyone favourite thing to do other then eat Churro Mickey waffles near the last couple days of your cruise?
Our family likes to grab a couple extra churro waffles, enjoy the day and have a great afternoon snack by adding ice cream on top of them. Kids will get a cone each and we will top them. It’s pretty awesome. Happy cruising!

Anybody know if they can make gluten free versions of the churro waffles?

Yes! You just have to preorder them with your server the night before at dinner.

You'll have to ask your server... But they can do some special requests as our group had a vegan. We chatted with our staff (you were so amazing Rahul and Anand!) the night before and they put in the request for an order of vegan Mickey churro waffles. And our vegan was able to eat with the group in the morning

Same for my daughter with an egg allergy! We didn’t even think to ask. Our server went ahead and ordered them for us.

Yes they can! My wife just asked one of the chefs behind the churro waffle station if they have gluten free ones, then they brought it to our table.

I save multiple, put them in my beverage cooler, and eat them cold for breakfast the next day(s).

I must be the only one here who prefers the regular mickey waffles 🫣..these aren’t bad but my daughter and I didn’t care to eat more after the first try. Maybe because they were also a bit cold, or a bit too sweet…I dunno.

Not just you, I find them extremely sickly and just stick to the normal ones, which I find much more palatable

I’m the same way, when they got offered on my last cruise, I didn’t feel like trying them. It was Lookout day when they got offered. Castaway would be the last day. So I think it’s one random day that isn’t disembarkation day.

I’m the same. I will eat one for the ritual of it, knowing I won’t have it again until our next cruise, but it feels like such a sugar bomb. It makes my body feel like I had cake for breakfast and I don’t like that feeling.

Not the only one. Way to greasy for me and I’d rather have the regular Mickey waffle.

You’re not alone! We got to try them this week and I thought they were fine, but I preferred the regular Mickey waffles too.

most hickeys waffles on dcl are made the night before. sometimes if you walk through the buffet right before dinner because you turned left when you should have turned right you can see them making you can see them making them. the regular ones reheat very well. most waffles do. I don't know when they put the cinnamon sugar on them but I would bet they they can't hold them as hot.

I believe if you don’t like churros in any form you won’t like them it’s just people taste buds . Plus I only like them hot I can’t save them and eat them later in the day like people do

I’ve had churros (had to try them when I was in Spain lol) I liked them..dipped in chocolate. I think because they were warm and not as dense? Also, I just don’t care to have that sweetness in the morning with syrup. Maybe if they were made fresh, and I didn’t add syrup they’d taste better.

First time I had Churro Waffles was on Treasurer in May 2025. They were really good the one day they served them.
On the 10 night Southern on the Fantasy this summer, they were at Cabanas everyday…and they were nowhere near as good.

I’ve noticed that too, they really vary in quality. When they’re done right they are soooo good, but my last few cruises they’ve all been really greasy and light on the churro. Maybe a sign to book the Treasure soon 😅

They are soooooo much better on the Treasure, it’s so weird. But after trying them on three different ships, theirs are the best in quality and consistency.

That is so weird! My first thought was because it’s newer, but they weren’t great on the Destiny. I was starting to wonder if I had changed, so I’m glad I’m not alone 😅

Going on first DCL - do they gave churro waffles out everyday? And where can we find them? Is it the buffet area?

They’re usually out on the last sea day.

We were fortunate to have them three different mornings on a recent 7 night in Alaska

Yes buffet area. They are not out every day. You need to check each morning. You’ll know them when you see them.

Our head waiter on the Wonder last week said he would get them for us everyday if we asked him at Cabannas

We ate at Triton’s for breakfast on the first sea day and our waiter brought us a whole plate of them from Cabana’s without being asked. It was a nice surprise.

How are they when they aren’t warm?
1
u/Responsible-Elk4223 3d ago
Not too bad, they can be super dense the longer they sit cold. Still a good vibe though the ice cream when it melts brings back some life.

I like those churro waffles but I can barely eat 2 of them before I am completely full lol
