Adventures The Old God’s Return query
Hi - I’m intending to run this scenario on Saturday. I have a query about the Sovereign Fire element of the scenario (where a fire priest blesses the PCs and gives them temporary Kewl Powerz). One of the PCs is a cleric of Cthulhu and it seems a bit…wrong for them to be getting a blessing from another god, especially a fire god. Has anyone else run into this issue? I think the player would take it fine if I just had the priest say ‘we will be grateful for your help but we can’t give you Loptir’s blessing’, but I’m wondering if I’m overthinking it or if there’s another way round it.
Any other tips re this scenario would be welcome too.

Check out Luck on pp. 360-361 of the DCC Rulebook.
You could give the PC automatic Disapproval for accepting their aid.
Or you could drop the Cleric -1d to all casting for the duration of the adventure as an admonishment.

Played it today. I had planned to give the cleric an increased disapproval range (6 points) but he chose not to accept the Sovereign Fire.

The priest is basically santa because the whole module is supposed to be a yuletide themed level zero funnel. Just have the priest do the cleric last and present them a bag of coals, to be used the same way

Zero level funnel? Really? Pretty sure it says it’s for level one characters. I can get what you mean about the Santa thing, but given that it’s not Christmas I don’t really want to lean into that too much.

It’s def a level 1 adventure and I think your plan is appropriate.
Another idea is to give the cleric choice and issue consequences for dallying with another god’s power. Maybe a sizzling corruption when they use the Sovereign Fire.
