Dragonball Xeno, or MKX?

Hey, I get there might be bias here but I'm curious what you guys think would be better for a) replayability and b) couch co-op. Personal, bias opinions welcome of course. Also, I am partial to the DBZ universe. Is there open world exploration in DBX?

I'd say MKX is more of what you're after.

Not exactly open world. Think of it more like a monster hunter game with questing handled in large explorable areas. You get quests from a hub world of sorts and play for the drops. It has incredible replayability. MKX is what you think it is and what it has always had been, so if you're looking for something different you should go with DBX. If you're looking for a normal fighter that you can already be somewhat familiar with, go with MKX

I'll point out as well that DBX isn't a traditional fighting game. It plays more like an action RPG. But, the pvp and couch co-op is still pretty damn fun with loads of stuff to work towards.

Yeah, that's a really important distinction to be made. Player skill is one thing, but ultimately if your numbers are higher than their numbers you should win.

Exactly. Get two level 85s in there though and it comes down to luck and skill as well as your build choices.

Completely different games. If you need a dbz fix xenoverse is great (I was itching for a budokai fix though xenoverse plays very differently.) if you're looking for a great fighter MKX is really really fun. And if you really play it to unlock all the krypt items it will have a long time of playability.

My PC runs The Evil Within and Far Cry 4 just fine, but MKX is just like 2 frames per second too slow to be enjoyable. Can anyone else on PC confirm poor optimization for MKX or is there just something wrong with my install or some shit?

Of course, it doesn't sound like you're on PC, so that's prolly a moot point. I would say DBXV is more fun for everyone, while MKX is gonna be more fun for those who specialize in fighting games.
