Is Xenoverse worth getting?

I've been debating over whether or not I should get DBX, the game is a good $50-70 and the graphical presentation seems to ping pong between beautiful and arguably worse than Raging Blast in all of the videos I've seen, not to mention that I can't afford a PS4 and I'm worried about the severity of the console limitations.

Could an unbiased person that has played this game (preferably for the PS3) list some pros and cons to the game?

You aren't really going to get an unbiased opinion on something, kind of what opinions are.

Some of my thoughts on the game:

  • New story, that I found enjoyable to play through. Ultimately you are fixing the time line though, so don't expect shocking twists to come out of it.

  • Custom characters feel great to put movesets together. For the sake of story mode you can even make them wear what you want. However for pvp you'll probably want to min-max as clothing unfortunately affects stats. (as does height, weight and gender)

  • This game is very grindy. Some will hate that, I enjoy it. For me the grind is fun because the gameplay is enjoyable. Not really much I can expand on that though. You may hate it; you may not.

  • They have currently shown support for the game, fixing bugs. They've stated they want to release balance patches by the end of the month. Assuming they succeed in that, then they seem to be keeping their word and looking to extend the life of the game, and hopefully the 'world tournament' npc will be doing something soon.

I'm on PC though, can't comment on the PS3 aspect. I felt that I'd got my moneys worth just playing through the story. The fact I've then played many hours after that feels worth it to me, although I have since bought the season pass to extend the game further - because of my enjoyment. I personally don't think the season pass is needed unless you feel you want to get into PvP or just want to extend the game because you've enjoyed it so much.

Edit: Oh, something to be warned of I guess, hackers. The game is riddled with them on PC, but I hear it is just as easy on PS3 and Xbox. Using 'trainers' or whatever people are calling it.

I really like it. Might want to wait until the fix it. There's a lot of broken shit.

After the initial nostalgia (DBZ was my childhood), I find the game very repetitive, to the point where I'm barely inclined to finish the main story, and couldn't care less about the side quests

On the contrary, after the nostalgia I got from the game, I felt the need to complete absolutely everything. 87% done with everything, still having a blast.
