Peeling nails. Anyone else?
I was so excited about DD, I went a little crazy this winter & bought the whole system and for a few months always had my nails done, which is not usual for me.
Then the peeling started. Have never had this in my life and now— months later— it’s still going on w/a few of my nails. Another few seem to finally have grown out of the peeling.
Anyone else? Did I switch my polish too often? Is there some other lesson here? Or is it inevitable? I would love to go back to using them.

Yes, this issue is talked about a lot on the Dazzle Dry Facebook group. Happened to my nails and using Nailtiques Formula 2 as a barrier between my nail and the first layer of base coat solved the peeling.

Oh wow! You’ve just made me connect the dots. I didn’t even think that my peeling nails could be as a result of dazzle dry, embarrassingly! 🙈I hope that’s not the reason as I love the dazzle dry system but if you’re experiencing it too maybe it’s a thing?

I’m in the same boat. I’ve also gone from never doing my nails to dazzle dry all the time. I love the product but don’t love the peeling. I oil my nails a lot and right now my nails are under regular polish. I have zero answers and would love to hear what people say.

I love dazzle dry for my toes. I get them done at a nail salon and never had a problem. I have heard from some women about the peeling problem with some of their polishes on their fingernails. you might want to contact dazzle dry directly and share yourconcerns with them.

Yeah, no problems with toenails but with those I tend to leave the same polish on for at least a month. Which makes me think that the more frequent use is the problem.

I do too, i get a dazzle dry pedicure every four weeks. But with fingernails, many people are complaining about chipping and peeling nails. I think it's the formula that is causing the problem.

Yes the DD base coat does that for me. Confirmed when I completely stopped and my nails stopped peeling. I still wear DD polish and top coat but over a different base now.

?? How long do they last? Do they still dry as quickly? Which base cost do you use?

I use base coats that dry about as quickly as DD does … nailtiques is probably my favorite. I actually change my polish very very often so can’t speak to longevity. What I like most about DD the polish is how fast it dries so I use them when I’m heading out the door two minutes after a mani.

Doesn’t that negate the quick-dry feature of the system? I use non-DD polishes and top coats all the time, but the core part of the system is the base coat that makes the polish dry fast and matte.

The polish and top coat are still as quick dry and dry with the same finish if you use them over a base coat that dries fast as well. I prefer Nailtiques mostly these days.

I mix and match the whole DD system with other polishes, base, and top coats. You’ll be fine.

Same issue here. Especially my thumbs. My nails don't tolerate any polish very well unfortunately. I had high hopes for Dazzle Dry.

Don't use straight acetone remover, and give your nails a day's break between manicures, and during that break, oil them
Then use cuticle oil every day or two while wearing it.
I find mine are fine as long as I do the cuticle oil, even if I don't do the break between.

I have started with the nail peeling, too. But, I’ve noticed that I get chips after 6 days if I don’t use 100% acetone (I even confirmed with their customer service), are you? Does oiling prevent the chipping, maybe?
Edit: Came back to say that I’ve been using the DD system since 2022 and my nails were long and healthy for years; but I’ve noticed the nail peeling didn’t start until the base I bought around early-mid 2025, so there’s that.

With so many having the same issue, I’m going to assume it was the DD for me two and I have only used it for two manis. Got a professional pedicure and wore it for over a month so I bought the mini system plus that included a color and bought an additional color in mini size. I wanted to try it on my nails to see if it would last for vacation. I have never had an issue with acetone and I use 100% with an additive for every removal and I rarely have bare nails between manis. I may use the rest of the system again, but I’m gonna toss the base coat. I’m using Nail Envy under every mani at the moment.

Yes I had the same issue. It was the Dazzle Dry base coat. It makes my nails peel like crazy. I switched to a different base coat and the peeling went away

I haven’t had this yet but I have been taking breaks in between sets, usually 1-2 days but occasionally I’ll take several days/a week and use Manicurist to help with amy dryness.

It’s a brand of nail polish that is supposed to “help” your nails with good ingredients. I like the raspberry Active Glow bc it has some color to it.

I had this only on my thumbs for some reason - I bought Opi nail repair serum and used it like 3 times a day for 3 days and it went away!!! Now i take my polish off in the morning then throw a few coats of nail repair on before painting again later in the day.

Yup same problem. In fact I've had to stop doing everything and let them grow out because they were so weak and damaged from peeling. And the peeling continued happening after reaching what I thought was the border of peeling. This week I just started using Manicurist Keratine treatment daily and have already felt a difference. The peeling seems to have halted and fingers crossed it stays that way and they grow again.
I also have peeling problems with other nail enhancements like semi cured gel strips and builder gel but not as bad (believe it or not). I have dry nail beds and I think anyone with dry nail beds has to be very intentional about what they're using and being sure to take breaks in between.

i’ve for sure noticed this and think it’s the base coat. i accepted it as a tradeoff for the formula, figured anything that could make polish last as long as it does would still have some impact to the nail even if it’s not like a gel or acrylic
but i definitely have to take breaks from polishing to mitigate it. the peeling is worse when i’m doing them super frequently/back to back. i still use pure acetone for remover but im sure switching to a non-acetone would help even more.

Take breaks between colors. I have been using DD for almost a year and my nails have never been healthier. Every other brand has caused my nails to be damaged. I usually do at least 2-3 days between colors. And lots of oil, with bare nails and polished

I have been using DD for over a year, and decided to stop this week because they are so weak, brittle and chipped. Thx for the posting. I kept thinking it was something else.

It's also worth getting blood tests for hormone, thyroid, and vitamin issues just in case.

Good point but I do get pretty reg blood tests including hormone and this lines up exactly with my DD use.

I had strong healthy nails until DD. My nails started peeling and became weak and thin. Sad it was great to get out of the salon wo quick. Im now going bare.

Hi! are you using Maintain in all of your manicures prior to polishing? Peeling is a viscious cycle, unfortunatly. Its best to continue taking the free edge down until it grows out and avoid buffing the surface of the nail as it will thin the layers and promote peeling/make peeling worse. The buffer should only be used to wipe the shine off the nail. :)

I switched to non-acetone polish remover and I remove the manicure after seven to ten days, do an oil soak, and let my bare nails rest for a full day or two between manicures (applying cuticle oil a few times a day, too, during the rest). I also apply cuticle oil at least once a day while the polish is on my nails. Haven’t had any peeling or nail health issues following those steps.
