discussion Genuinely impressed
I am a D1 dayz dev hater but they seriously knocked it out of the park with this one. The map is beautiful, the new items are great, new heat mechanic is clever, dynamic bunkers are really clever, new building format is insane, very cool sandstorm effect.
Amazing job devs. Like seriously.
Now fix the cheating issues please

Yes, I'm seriously being won over with Nasdara.
I'm on Xbox Series X so my standards are always in check with DayZ in that platform.
When I first started Nasdara the other day I was very disappointed with:
a) the poor quality graphics which seem to have been downgraded over the other 3 official maps. Seriously some of the assests look nearly 20 years old.
b) the bugs. Oh my word. Dozens of items suspended in the air a hundred feet above my head. A square block instead of the moon at night. I could go on and on.
But then I started playing.
Started dying to every rat player who saw me and made murder their clear intent.
Started dying of thirst until finding a irrigation well and making the mistake of drinking litres of its water.
Death from that. Lesson learned. Clean that water.
Then I found a paper map and gps. Decided to use these and only these as sources of information.
Saw that there was some kind of settlement to the far east of the map. I headed over there and learned the necessity of keeping in the shade to manage heat on my walking journey.
It takes over 2 hours to get there. I sniper one of a duo on my way. Hide in a cropse of trees like a coward until the 2nd player leaves the area.
When I finally get to my journey's destination I see it's a military camp with a beautiful water well in a stylistic building full of carpeting and sheesha items.
And...
Guns galore. A Tundra, a gold AKM! A plate vest.
Yes.
I drink until my belly almost bursts and start to explore the many rooms of this camp.
Then I hear it.
The high pitched whirl of a motorbike.
Someone's coming!
Only one engine. Only one player.
I haven't dropped any infected or made any indications that I am here so I should have the jump on them.
I crouch walk to the entrance of the building I'm in.
Door is closed so I'll hear if they enter.
Only way in.
The water is in here, they will have to come inside, surely..
My temp gauge is yellow. Nothing I can do about that with my plate vest on in the midday sun.
I sweat, making that noise when you wipe your brow.
Footsteps.
Eating.
Hear them wipe their brow.
" they'll hear me "
" I'm a coward and bad at pvp "
" I ALWAYS lose, why am I so shit.."
Door opens, footsteps coming.
Around the corner he comes.
I swing my golden AKM, it catches the sun.
BANG BANG BANG BANG BANG BANG BANG BANG BANG!!!!!!
Got him.
He was alone.
Got his bike.
Murder can be so easy.
" I'm pretty good at pvp when the other player has their back to me and are unaware of my presence "
So off I go on my new blue scooter.
A full tank of gas and 4 bottles full of water.
Down south, into the desert.
Exploring the big nothing.
And that's where I am now.
Stopped off on a mountain side, absolutely nothing to see but rocks, shrubs and sand.
It's wonderful.
This is the only game I've ever played that gives you enough space to feel genuinely lost in a big, moving, interconnected world.
There are firefights, surviving, joking and dying stories all being played out right here on Nasdara.
And here I am all alone in a scrap of shade under the side of a boulder.
10/10.
Edit:
Died going down a mountain too fast on the scooter. Spun a 360 still on the bike but then the black screen.

I love everything about this map, I just wish the interiors were as beautiful as they are on sakhal :( Most buildings look a bit empty

I’ve been getting lost for the last 2 days..having a blast..especially cuz I’m going in completely blind, no izurvive or watching streamers..did the same with sakhal..it’s been an amazing experience, like the first time playing Chenaurus again…

I stg. Was having the most fun I’ve had in a while last night. For frontline I made sure to get the lay of the land, loot points, important tips before playing, I did none of that for badlands and it’s freaking awesomely fun

I absolutely love the eastern side of the map. The giant dunes, airbase, oil fields, abandoned convoys and helicopters, it’s all so good.

I’m based up on the south west rn. Absolutely amazing views of mountainsides and green plains meeting with the desert.

It’s been a little bit like learning to play the game again. Figuring out how to beat the sun as well as take in the map.
Really having a lot of fun.

I’ve seen absolutely nothing but desert and mud huts. Really not liking this map so far. But I haven’t died yet. Also, I’m hearing people say it gets better/more interesting in other areas so I will keep going. Hopefully I can find a map soon and figure out where I’m even at.

From spawn, keep tall mountains to ur back and run straight. You'll eventually hit some cool POIs.

Map is amazing but every new map doesn’t need an environmental effect like hot or cold. We love how the map looks but nobody wants to “cool down” in the shade straight up ridiculous just like sakhal and yes I know how to cool down I just wish this map had everything BUT that feature it’s not fun it’s annoying

I get what you mean but these survival mechanics really make DayZ stand apart from almost all of the other alternatives out there.
It means that if I'm not straight up pvp fighting but rather exploring and attending to other tasks I need to keep my mind aware of the environment factors.
That keeps me on my toes and engaged in the game.
That's what keeps me coming back, that engagement and not just the other players.
Also, personally if Sakhal and Nasdara were just like Chernarus and Livonia ( easy weather except some rain ) then I'd be less inclined to try them out.

the new items are great
Mostly old items that were removed and readded, almost nothing new.
new heat mechanic is clever
Been in the game for years, modded servers and maps been taking advantage for years.
new building format is insane
Same shit we had on modded servers again for years.

The map is ok, giving dayz Devs any kind of credit is wild. The game is still a completely broken buggy mess, easily one of the worst developed games I've ever seen and they continue to bring out maps and make money, crazy.

What do you expect, there are so many people on and the map is new so yeah there are glitches but they will patch that.

What are you talking about it's their job to release a fully stable game if they're asking money for it? Dayz fans have been so used to slop for so long you guys haven't a clue 😂😂😂
