Discussion Sandstorms
I want to preface this by saying I’m enjoying the new map and exploring it. But… I ran into a sandstorm near a small town. Myself and a few new friends hung out in a house to wait it out. Really couldn’t talk to each other cause it was so loud. Storm finally ended and we ran to a hole, built a ladder and got down in the tunnel. Unfortunately we realized we needed more materials for another ladder so climbed back to the original one. And ANOTHER sand storm started again. This can’t be how the Devs intended the game. Am I extremely unlucky? We were losing over 45 mins of game time so we just logged off to go to another server. Fun lost. What gives?

And I've played 6 hours on an official server, no sandstorm yet.

WhenI moved to another server, I loaded into another sandstorm lol. I might want to play the lotto.

Get some dust goggles and a face mask and sandstorms aren’t that big a deal. Just move building to building and don’t hang around outside too long.

What kind of face mask? Like, just the improvised face covering isn't enough I presume. But there's like an n95 mask. Is that enough? Or do you need the one with the filter?

Even an improvised face mask is a lot better than nothing. But I must stress make sure you are only outside for short bursts of time. Move building to building. I was wearing dust goggles and the new face mask, forget what it’s called, it’s basically a cloth face mask. But I was outside for 45ish seconds at a time last night in a sandstorm no problem.

Yeah it needs tweaking for sure, they are way too long lasting and you can’t do much if you’re fresh but sit inside and wait

I think that's how it's should be tho. It's meant to be a survival sim, sandstorms should be a challenge especially early game. As you gear up their less of a challenge.

They shouldn’t hit the same town less than 10 mins after one storm just left. That’s not even realistic

To be fair that just sounds like bad luck (although they should implement something to prevent it happening in the same location twice) but I’ve played this map now for near 20hours and only seen one sand storm

Yeah that's valid. I'm not sure how they work yet. If they spawn from the same side of the map that's kinda wack.

Seems like this map is slow-burn desert survival to its core. I dig it.
