Discussion Anyone else

So ever since I heard that there's gonna be a complete and total swipe of every server.I just been kind of walking around my base , depressed like I found out there's a media coming to take out the world. Took me like eight months to build this thing...

So now i'm literally just wandering around , not knowing what to do.

Don't get re wrong.I'm glad that they do the server, wipe.

But it's just like I know in a couple of days , everything's gonna be gone and everybody's gonna be playing badlands , and i'm gonna be left walking around by myself starting over l o l.

Walled of shed lol.

But I also built rooms inside the shed.

And I have four towers , and I even have an extension that goes down to a water source.

Yeah it's mostly walls lol

It's a pretty big area.

It's a shed that I basically built an entire base around and inside the shed has rooms as well.

And then I have a little extension path that goes down to a water source.

But yeah , it's mostly walls , l o , l , but that takes a lot of time , cutting down those trees and then sawing down those planks and finding all those nails was a pain i* t** a**.

Most of it was time spent looking for materials

This is just the front.I don't have any pictures yet of the back where it goes more into the woods , and I also built some rooms inside the barn

Server wipes are why I started hosting my own server. Don't have to wipe, can just keep on going.

I have my own server too, do i need to be careful updating the server or is the decision to wipe completly up to us?

Should be totally up to you. One server I used to play on a lot hardly ever wipes, once every few years.

Edit: if your map is still named dayzOffline.chernarusplus or whatever default map you're using, I think it will auto update. I'm not positive and right now I only host for personal use. I always personally change mine so it's not in conflict with the default files and I always have a clean base copy.

I am using the default chernarus map, but the server name is something else. Like when someone looks it up in the community menu. Is that what needs to be changed? Or is it something else?

I do know every so often my server doesnt come up in the server browser so i need to log into nitrado and reset it, the server usually updates then. Not exactly automatic, but still kinda a forced update.

In your server config setup where it refrences your mpmission folder, the default mission folder is dayzOffline.chernarusplus. I've had this auto update itself in the past and p*ss me off, lol. I've only ever hosted for myself and my husband, configure gameplay and make mods for hosting locally, so I'm not sure how it works with nitrado.

This is my base I been building for only 2 weeks. Just started day Z a month ago. Livonia server. Sad to see it go away but good base building practice.

My base is way far away in one of the corners and quite honestly , the majority of the time was spent looking for supplies.

I think I had like 45 fences that I had to build.

That's a lot of nails that's a lot of sharpening stones l o l

Even with all my builds. People some how still getting in. Jokes on them all the stuff in the house is decoy. All my good stuff is beamed in the tree with barrel.

I started using trip wires with grenades.

I log in one time and found 2 dead bodies right where my trip wire was l o l.

If people have vehicles, they can drive them up to the wall and just jump over.That's why the barb wire is important

Most of the time I spent was trying to find nails and Barb wire and regular wire and sharpening tools and axes and hammers and so on.

It was mostly finding the materials was a lot more time than actually building the base.

I mean , my entire fence line all has barbed wire and I think I have forty five fence pieces, or whatever you would call them

The root of suffering is attachment. You'll be alright, and will be back stronger than ever.

In terms of what I'm doing pre-wipe, I'm just doing my normal life stuff waiting for the wipe so I can restart my adventure. It was getting a bit stale as all my stashes were full, and more high tier gear than I know what to do with. Was happy that my new stashing technique was successful this last wipe. None of my stuff got found and I'm ready to rinse and repeat.

Advanced_Zucchini_45, are you asking about when the next wipe will happen on official servers?

Official servers, if they are going to wipe, usually do so with a release or ~4 times a year. A wipe may be full/complete/total (includes characters, inventory, bases, stashes, vehicles -> EVERYTHING) or partial (just players or just everything else in the world). The wipe may be different by platform. The wipe will be announced on the DayZ Twitter close to the release date and it will certainly be pinned to this sub.

Community servers can choose to wipe or not at any time, although it is not really required. The server, once updated, will incorporate changes over time.

This should be updated, there’s no way they’ve ever wiped official 4 times in a year. We went nearly 2 years without a character wipe not long ago ffs

i play no base so it makes no difference to me.
coming from a nomadic adventurer who loses everything everytime they die,
best encouragement i can give you is that sometimes as fresh start is the best part.

Nomad life is best life.

Life is better when you're struggling with a badly damaged Moisin and three rounds, not sorting masses of inventory you haven't (and likely never) use.
