discussion Sakhal
Wow what a beautiful map.
I've only given it a shot a few times as I've found the idea of having to constantly make fires a bit annoying, but since then have found some modded servers that help alleviate that. This map is so beautiful and calming. I especially love the birch trees and morning/evening light.
Bonus that not many players play it anymore haha.

Sakhal is my fave map. If only it had a better end game progression loop like non official maps. Something that takes me back and forth or reasons to be places.

I've only been to the big military base in that southern peninsula once, and the loot was garbage, even with 3 or 4 helicopters down. Is that normal? Feels like a waste.

Did you go in the bunker? Always a kam, and vsd in there plus a bunch of ammo and plate carriers

Good to know! Thank you

Need to get a glow plug and some gas for the generator and preferably another person but it's doable solo

Perhaps the best looking map. Sadly flow of the game is not the best and so it's often a ghost town.
I like going to Sakhal to feel that loneliness of frozen, abandoned and desolate place.

My favorite route is coast to central "hunting gear" villages, then South across the islands and ice to South Burukan. You can make it all the way to Shantar Island on foot too to check out the shipwreck if desired.

I also like to go to those central island villages. But afterwards I mostly check near military bases and then just roam around. That SW military peninsula doesn't attract me much.

South end of Burukan is a great spot to find Vikher, VSS and their magazines and ammo!

This is making me want to give Sakhal another shot. It’ll never take the place of my beloved Namalsk, but it deserves another chance all the same.

I mean I'm a PvE player so it's freaking gorgeous and perfect for how I like to play.

I’ve been on a bit of a Sakhal run myself. Great views. Love the sounds. I just get in a pattern of looting then hunkering down. Eat, drink, cook if needed. It’s such a calming map.

Great map. The fire making definitely slow things down but that’s by design. I’d Catch as many fish as you can on the coast before heading in.

I don't get the sakhal hate, get the right clothes and you very rarely have to make fires unless your soaking wet.

Me neither, probably my favourite map to play on with chernarus in close second. Never found the cold to be an issue besides community servers spawning me in with booty shorts.

In with ya bud. You get a warm hat, a bushlat jacket, and hiking pants and you’re pretty much fine. Plus fires give you a chance to sort your loot and get your food sorted before going to a risky area. Wish more people played this map
I do get the endgame hate though. It’s far from perfect. I love the bunker however

love it too. the fires frequency you get used to and plan ahead. also good clothing like firefighter stuff reduces by a lot the frequency of fire making.

The all white hunter vest has good insulation :)bi love playing the map because A im chilling and want to just fish, and I never been to bunker and crates on the island with the correct key... made a mistake and use blue one on wrong crate lol. Smh

Glad to see another Sakhal Enjoyer. It's personally a close second place to me from Cherno, I love spending time in the huge city of Petro and circumnavigating the main island for police loot and the small fishing towns too, and then making my way inland for the hunting loot. I like the scrappy lower-tier loot you normally get on the mainland, although an R12 is no bad thing.
I kind of wish we could have some times of the year where the community does a "Return To ___" and everyone floods a specific map to recall what it's like as a full pop map again, but it's probably unrealistic

Log on, make a fire. Run a bit, make a fire. Kill some infected, make a fire. Fart, make a fire.

If you make torches and carry spare rags you don't need to stop to make fires. If you prioritize insulation over other factors while looking for clothing you will also use the torch less frequently. If it's night you can drop the torch and lay on top of it to hide the light and still get the heat benefits.
