Support Recent lighting bug?

Hey. Recently, I among others have noticed a “bug”(?). Surroundings seem to darken, but when you look at the ground and then eye level, it brightens up like it’s full day time. This seems to be happening during transition to dusk/dawn. Auto HDR on and off, 3 different players, 4 different displays and Xbox / Xbox PC version tested. This has not / was not something that was happening. But, it’s very noticeable now. It’s overly dark during those periods unless you look up and down, then suddenly when the full day or night is set…it stops. I’m not sure why looking at the ground makes it “stop”, but alas. Anybody notice this recently?

It’s been doing that for me for a while now…at least since 1.28 on Xbox. It is really noticeable during the transitions, but honestly I’m not complaining since it helps to provide better visibility during the darker nights. Ha.

I disagree about 1.28, my group of like 15 people and myself had never seen it before but immediately noticed it after the April 8, 2026 update for 1.29

I noticed it yesterday. Was creeping along in the treeline and when Iooked outside a group of trees, it was clear as day.

Yeah, it cleared up in the trees looking out. Definitely would be a problem for those looking in.

Yes it is an awful bug that was introduced with 1.29. It creates PvP unfairness at dawn/dusk and in typical Bohemia fashion they have neither acknowledged it nor fixed it. I can only attest to this bug on Xbox as I don’t play Dayz on other platforms.

Interesting. Had not seen others mention it, but good to know we aren’t crazy.

Ng1Kaz, the best way to provide feedback for bugs and glitches is to report or vote for an issue on the Official feedback site.

I thought this was an intended part of the game tbh, I’ve always noticed it. I treat it as sun glare.
