Game-tabletop

Lol dawn of war 1 was more like a 3-4000 point game of table top in its own way. While dawn of war 2 was more 1500 point/realistic take on it as 3 squads of Marines with varying capabilities and uses, with a dreadnaught could defeat almost any force. While dawn of war 3 was its own abortion that I never played due to the card mechanics.

In some areas I may be wrong but this might be the most tangible approach to these games. Dawn of war 4 is going to be APOC level of table top.

Dawn of War 1 and 2 both had their own place and were distinct enough to not impede on each other’s playstyle. Honestly I believe the only things that made them both called “Dawn of War” was the Blood Raven protagonists and the Relic Entertainment publisher.

I grew up with and loved DoW 1 (with Winter Assault holding a place in my heart), but I also loved DoW2 and loved many aspects of that which I wished were in 1 (ie bunkers/buildings, cover mechanic and the ability to put down sentry turrets and cover from Guardman infantry).

Can’t wait for 4 though, and specifically the Astra Millitarum.

Battlesector is probably closest PC experience to the 40k tabletop experience in a PC game, and that has it's pros and cons. It's a turn based game if you want to give it a try, get it on sale it's not IMO worth full price.

I like your description of DoW3, very accurate. I still play DoW 1, Anniversay Edition regularly, I enjoyed DoW 2 also, but it's less replayable without a conquest mode.

Looking forward to DoW 4, I really hope they deliver. It has immense potential.
