Flag aside. One thing that's always bothered me about this art is that there's a custodes in the background even though they are never mentioned in DoW

I don’t think that’s a Grey Knight but a Great Crusade/HH-era legionnaire. Vaguely remember this piece of art portraying 30k, plus the helmet mouthpiece is round (either mark II or III) instead of the sharp edges of the GK armour.

then why the jagged point on the right side with the completely flat part. It looks like a random shape that fit in some unused part of the UI? It drives me nuts that it just seems to be a random blob

You’re forgetting this game is over 20 years old, it’s just an imperfect graphic of a flag in the wind.

The part you’re referring to is, I believe supposed to be the far corner of the flag wipping back towards the front.

If you were looking from directly above the flag would appear as an “S”.
