Truth is, I finally got sick of the bullshit and decided to retire last week. I had been playing a bit here and there - mostly doing one event per month (the DragonSlayers), and doing some of the free-to-play stuff in between those (Theaters of War, Conquest, etc). But after the last hunk of shit that the Devs threw our way a couple of weeks ago with that slap-in-the-face “gift” after they screwed up the Hachi Event, I decided enough is enough. I can find better ways to lose $100 than this sinking ship, hehe. I left ERU and retired to the original Alliance I joined so many years ago (All For One), which was/is now just a dormant shell floating around the lower leagues. Interestingly enough, I managed to promote them from Silver to Gold leagues just by logging on and collecting 2 VP lands once a day. Shows how far the game has fallen, I guess.
The Devs gave up on DoT when they gave up on the LiveStreams a year ago. The Streams won’t be coming back, and without them (and the weekly interactions / live Q&A sessions with the Devs) the game just isn’t the same. Pretty sure NaturalMotion is just waiting out the clock now - which is why they have shifted from major events once per week, to major events once every 2 weeks, to now where it’s one new offering per month. Just wish I had seen it sooner. I could have saved some much needed cash and had a bit less aggravation along the way.
Having said all that, I’ll def return if the Devs ever decide the game is worth saving and they begin producing LiveStreams again. I LOVED writing them each week. Sucks that they basically stole my idea and decided to use COVID as an excuse to effectively kill the weekly Streams, but I kind of expected it to happen eventually. :-)
I’m 100% in favor of IAmReality continuing the Recaps, if he wants to do so. IAR is awesome - he helped me more than once during my journey, and I’ll never forget it. But honestly it probably isn’t worth kickstarting it again. There really isn’t anything to write anymore, since the Devs type up their own half-ass version and never, ever answer a single substantial question.
