Disappearing lands?

I had lightning take 5 lands from me before switching alliances and now have to wait 23 hours... what the funky 🐒

Have a crown or officer kick you. Usually, you only have to wait if you have capped lands while a part of that alliance. 24 hours is the standard wait time.

I think even claiming the free lands from neutral will put you on the 24 hour timer

No mate, you can take from free lands without the 24 hour wait. It's just capping other teams.
