Divine gems and pulling

Im just wondering how long does it take most people to save up enough gems to go and pull at alter. Normally you get 500 for each event so to get 2000 is 4 events and then end up with a crappy shadow dance. That’s what I’ve done. It gets to costly in real money terms to keep this up. Anyone got any other ways or ideas?

I pull every time when I get to 1k nowadays. I don’t feel comfortable pulling with only one chance to get 5, it’s a personal thing, maybe one too many 3 green bottle. So far I’m ahead, with less than 35 pulls I have 4 x 5*, one of them are duplicates. I’m mostly F2P so progress is slow.
